I think it may be I will have to find his birth details to be sure. his father comes from St Peter Port and was married in alverstoke Gosport 15 Oct 1860 now why would he go back to Guernsey when all his other children were born in Alverstoke unless the error is in the birthplace of John and the enumerator got it wrong. The other thing is Thomas Henry in the 1861 is living with his wife no children at his mother in laws house. Now why would a man take his wife who was born in Yorkshire to Guernsey to have a child ----- Original Message ----- From: "Elizabeth Kipp" <kippeeb@magma.ca> To: <HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 28, 2005 3:38 PM Subject: Re: [Ham] List Motivation > Don't you think this is your John in the Channel Islands Census (he is > born > in 1861 according to the 1901 census)? > >> > John Gallienne abt 1861 Torteval, Guernsey, Channel Islands Head >> > Torteval >> > Jersey > > Elizabeth (Blake) Kipp > >> ----- Original Message ----- >> From: "Elizabeth Kipp" <kippeeb@magma.ca> >> To: <HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> >> Sent: Monday, November 28, 2005 3:26 PM >> Subject: Re: [Ham] List Motivation >> >> >> > If you go to the Channel Island Census for 1901 - RG13/5317 - (Jersey, >> > Torteval, District >> > 3, Page 7, ). I have just found John William b 1849 St Peter Port so it would appear as though this could be the man in the census you found. he is not in later census so it probably is him off travelling round the world. But not my John I don't think. One more thing that I have thought of is his sister Ellen Mary also lived with him with his grandmother and she was listed as an idiot from birth, perhaps John was the same and died in some institute also when the grandmother died ----- Original Message ----- From: "Elizabeth Kipp" <kippeeb@magma.ca> To: <HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 28, 2005 3:26 PM Subject: Re: [Ham] List Motivation > If you go to the Channel Island Census for 1901 - RG13/5317 - (Jersey, > Torteval, District > 3, Page 7, ). Hi all Just another short e-mail to see if anyone can help with additional information about the BULLPITT/ BULPIT family from Milbrook or Eling in the early 19th century. James Bulpit married Sarah GASPIN in approximately 1830. On the 1851 Census the name is misspelt as BULPIS. Does anyone have access to an earlier census that could look them up? Kind regards, Melissa
Hi My mother & her two sisters were brought to Portsmouth in or abt 1930 and left in Nazereth house boarding school. That is what makes genealogy interesting. You are right that that does seem strange. I was using ancestry.com to extract and there are other families with the same name. Likely you will have to extract to find the right ones. Good luck. Hello Listers, If SKS has access to the 1851 Census would they be kind enough to look for entries for BUTLER, Sarah born Gosport with an age between 56 and 66 (bn c 1785 and 1795) I have a baptism at Gosport in 1786 that I believe is the right Sarah (nee Boyt) and a burial in 1853 of a Sarah Butler aged 58 at Alverstoke, which could be her (with a incorrect age at death). Unfortunately I am house bound at the moment and cannot get to the local LDS library. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you Carole (in Oz)

If you go to the Channel Island Census for 1901 - RG13/5317 - (Jersey, Torteval, District 3, Page 7, ). This John born in 1861 seems reasonable. I wonder who the other John is! I wonder if it is an error on the part of the enumerator in that he is 12 years older than his wife. Perhaps it should have read 42 which is still not quite right but closer. That would be great if you could check for my Joseph and much appreciated but he wont be in your "home" fiche since he is christened in 1730. I just didn't want you to make special trips that are out of your usual path and thank you very much. I have discovered that my Ann Farmer (married to John Blake) was also born at Andover (Little London in 1802, near Woodhouse). Her father, Isaac Farmer and mother Elizabeth Lamsdens were also born at Andover (Isaac in 1764 but he appears to be christened at Collingbourne Kingston, Wiltshire and Elizabeth is born at Woodhouse, Andover). She is a real mystery as she died in Andover (Woodhouse I think) 28 Aug 1862. I have never found any family for Elizabeth. Isaac appears to descend from the Farmer and Holland families in the Whitchurch, Alton and Bishopstoke areas. It takes about six weeks to get fiche from England and wouldn't it be wonderful to know about Joseph I must admit. I will likely still order the Andover fiche. You would probably be amazed to see how much fiche I have purchased even at that price. I need a lovely drawer to keep them all just to keep them ordered. I have hinted at my husband who (now retired) is enjoying doing some woadworking once again after years and years spent at the National Research Council here as an Information Scientist (originally a Ph.D. Chemist before he did his professional librarian degree).
