    2. Melissa McCarthy
    3. This from the QLD mailing list. Enjoy! > > "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" - For Genealogists > > 'Twas the night before Christmas > when all through the house > Not a creature was stirring, not even my spouse. > The dining room table with clutter was spread > With pedigree charts and with letters which said: > > "Too bad about the data for which you wrote. > It sank in a storm on an ill-fated boat." > Stacks of old copies of wills and of such > Were proof that my work had become much too much. > > Our children were nestled all snug in their beds, > While visions of sugarplums danced in their heads. > And I at my table was ready to drop > >From work on my album with photos to crop. > > Christmas was here, and of such was my lot > That presents and goodies and toys I'd forgot. > Had I not been so busy with grandparents' wills, > I'd not have forgotten to shop for such thrills. > > While others had bought gifts that would bring Christmas cheer, > I'd spent time researching those birthdates and years. > While I was thus musing about my sad plight, > A strange noise on the lawn gave me such a fright. > > Away to the window I flew in a flash, > Tore open the drapes and I yanked up the sash. > When what to my nearsighted eyes should appear, > But an overstuffed sleigh and eight small reindeer. > > Up to the housetop the reindeer they flew > With a sleigh full of toys, and ol' Santa Claus, too. > And then in a twinkling, I heard on the roof > The prancing and pawing of thirty-two hoofs. > > The TV antenna was no match for their horns, > And look at my roof, with hoof-prints adorned! > As I drew in my head, and bumped it on the sash, > Down the cold chimney fell Santa - KEE-RASH! > > Dear Santa had come from the roof in a wreck > And tracked soot on the carpet! I could just wring his neck! > Spotting my face, good old Santa could see > I had no Christmas spirit, you'd have to agree. > > He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work > And filled all the stockings. (I felt like a jerk). > Here was Santa who'd brought us such gladness and joy; > When I'd been too busy for even one toy. > > He spied my research on the table all spread. > "A genealogist!", he cried (My face was all red). > "Tonight I've met many like you", Santa grinned, > As he pulled from his sack a large book he had penned. > > I gazed with amazement - the cover, it read: > "Genealogy Lines For Which You Have Plead". > "I know what it's like as a genealogy bug", > He said as he gave me a great Santa hug. > > "While the elves make the sleighful of toys I now carry, > I do some research in the North Pole Library!" > "A special treat I am thus able to bring > To genealogy folks who can't find a thing." > > "Now off you go to your bed for a rest - > I'll clean up the house of this genealogy mess". > As I climbed up the stairs full of gladness and glee, > I looked back at Santa who'd brought much to me. > > While settling in bed, I heard Santa's clear whistle > To his team, which then rose like the down of a thistle. > And I heard him exclaim as he flew out of sight, > "Family history is fun! Merry Christmas! Good night!" > >

    3. The LDS claim that Bentley baptisms 1539-1877 are in the IGI / Family Search, though it is possible that there are transcription errors. There is no entry for Margaret Barnett apart from a patron submission, which is presumably seeking a baptism entry rather than recording one. What evidence do you have that she was born at Bentley. Have you found her on a census? 3. Hi Edna and All, >ITV have bought | > Friends Reunited, and with it the right to operate the 1901 census I think they have missed the boat as they say, you can get the 1901 Census most places, it is sold on CD, all Record Offices have the 1901 Census, it is on Ancestry, some libraries have the 1901 Census, it is on microfiche. People who bought these tokens to use the 1901 Census, what did they do with them, when you could use and get the 1901 Census, as I have listed above. 2. Hi Edna, I had a look at the original scanned page for Marriage. It is hand written but very clear and is Jessie Varnis. There was one Haggis in the Dec Qtr 1859 , he was a Henry. Is it definitely an Elizabeth Harris and a Jessie Haggis you are looking for? regards Jean

    1. COUZENS - need help!
    2. Gail Collins
    3. I am resending this query - seems it was sent before I finished what I wanted to know because none of the baptisms & marriages are on the IGI. I have been working on my Couzen family tree. My 7 gg, John Couzens appears in Havant for sure with his burial 8 Oct 1701 but I do not know where John came from. His baptism/marriage is not on the IGI. ( I have the following generations down to the present.) My 6gg is John Cosens (& variants!) baptism is also not on IGI. He married Mary POLLINGTON 4 Sep 1699 at Portsmouth. Their 1st child is born in Havant 1702. So both father John and son John seem to first appear in Havant by 1701. Query 1 : Is Mary Pollington baptised in Portsmouth - is it possible to get b/m/d for 1670 - 1750? Query 2: Are there Couzens (and variants) also at Portsmouth/Portsea during the 1670's -1750's? It seems many people married at Portsea or Portsmouth but they are not from that parish. Do they usually marry in the wife's parish? Fingers Crossed - GAIL in Ontario Their 1st child is born in Havant 1702. So both father John and son John appear in Havant 1701. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. 3. I have WHITLOCK family in my tree from Botley, West End and Fair Oak area. I also am in contact with another researcher who like myself is a member of HGS her WHITLOCK family were in Bitterne. I do not recognise any of your Christian names from my family but there were quite a number of WHITLOCK's in the general South Stoneham area. Try emailing HGS as the researcher I mentioned helps out in the research centre and will be interested in any link to her family. I will get in contact if I find a link to my family. 3. Dear all, I am still looking for my Paul Lavington born 1744 abt.( I know his mother was Mary). I have found a Lucy Lavington Christen 3 Nov 1742 , Heckfield, Hampshire Miriam lavington Christen 8 mar 1738, Heckfield, Hampshire. Father was Charles Mother was Mary I have checked Tony and Linda's web page but no lavingtons at all for Heckford.. If any one has access to the Parish records for Heckfield could you please see if Charles and Mary had a Paul born around 1744. This is a stab in the dark as I can not find them in Houghton, Hampshire. The Hampshire Records Office could not find them in the settlement certificates either. But did suggest that I could try searching the surrounding parishes to Houghton such as Stockbridge and Kings Somborne. Sorry to bother you all again with my dear Paul, but I am running out of options. Kind regards Jean Parker ( Australia)
