    3. Hi Edna, I have just tried this batch number thing for the first time. I got to the batch numbers for places that I am interested in. I clicked on certain numbers and it does not go anywhere. A sound is made only. I am using Netscape 8.0 and WXP. Don Firsdon

My problem is the entry has no name for the husband and it is also a record submitted by a member of the LDS Church.I don't seem to be able to find any more information on this and was hoping that some person with access to Mottisfont records may be able to do a lookup for me and tell me the name of the anonymous spouse. 2. After quite a successful trip to the Records office a while ago,I wonder if there is anybody out there who could help me a little further. I was searching for Robert HOBSON, who according to census was born in Hatton Hants. A lister advised me to try Houghton - and bingo!! Benjamin and Ann had their family in Houghton Jemima bp 26.1.1817 Mary Ann bp 7.11.1819 Robert bp 25.5.1822 Elizabeth bp 25.11.1824 George bp 10.6.1827 They had moved away by the 1841 census. Robert was married in 1848 and l iving in Surrey, and I have followed him through to 1901 - also have followed George through. Has anyone any connection with this family? I would love to find out where Benjamin came from. Very many thnaks Nan

Hi Further info at http://www.gosport.gov.uk/sections/your-council/council-services/leisure--am enities/anns-hill-cemetery/memorial-safety-program Suggest that if you have an interest in a particular grave that you contact the council. We have asked the cemetery what happens (particularly for the older graves) when the grave owner cannot be traced BUT someone such as a descendant still has an interest in the preservation of the grave. We will let you know the answer Linda & Tony

    1. Re: [Ham] DICKER FAMILY
    2. Ken & Lorraine Neate
    3. Re Glen's posting of surname interests DICKER - Belmont, Bolton, Dorset, Isle of Wight Although not related I have been researching a Fanny DICKER and her husband Jonathan WILLIAMS. Mr WILLIAMS spent 14 years in NSW, specially chosen by judges at the Hampshire Assizes in 1820 for a free travel pass. His wife Fanny joined him in NSW at her own expense and they made quite a bit of money as dealers in shipping cedar (part owner of a couple of ships) and selling other commodities. He was a partner in some of those business ventures with the a James Stares SPEARING who achieved his wealth (and a 4000 acre land grant in NSW) through patronage and privilege. Fanny and Jonathan WILLIAMS returned to the IOW (the home of Jonathan Williams and where he had been baptised in 1783) in 1834 and by the time of his death in 1856 had a large number of properties (cottages and land mostly near Brading) which were left to various nieces and nephews (they had no children of their own) after the death of Fanny in 1874 at the age of 85. The will of Jonathan mentions the following surnames His nieces and nephews: LALLOW, WALKER, YOUNG, BURT, RARLLETT, SIMMONDS, O'BRIEN Her nieces and nephews: DICKER, GASTON, THOMPSON Fanny married Benjamin JOLLIFFE in 1859. I understand Benjamin JOLLIFFE was involved with the Bembridge Mill (IOW) at one time. The probate documents include a rough hand drawn family tree! SPEARING (the main subject of my research) also returned to the IOW where he fathered another three (of his eight) illegitimate children and died at Molina Cottage Charisbrooke in 1859.
