    3. A paranoid person would say that the council got wind of Tony's visit and locked him in on purpose, perhaps they hoped he would trip over a leaning gravestone and give them an excuse to flatten the lot! :) Regards Jane -----Original Message----- From: Knightroots@aol.com [mailto:Knightroots@aol.com] Sent: Monday, 16 January 2006 5:53 a.m. To: HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [Ham] Re: Anns Hill cemetery urgent information Slightly corrected as a few rushed errors.. 3. Hi I'm not a computer whiz either, but if you are referring to searching Batch numbers on Family Search, I think you do need to input a surname. This then brings up all the entries for that name. I have used this quite often without any problem. It's really useful to check on other siblings and family groupings. 3. I have been unable to find the marriage of the above to an Elizabeth b c1822 Selborne, Hants.. Philip was the son of William THOMAS (b Avon, Hants c1791) and Mary WARREN (b c1799 Kings Somborne). Philip's siblings are: Charles 1823 b Winton, Hants Elizabeth 1831 b Winton, Hants Ellen 1834 b Winton, Hants (They were lving in Winchester Street, Mary Kalender, Hants so it is possible that Philip is mistaken in saying "born Winchester" on the census). Philip had the following children: Elizabeth b 1852 Southampton Ellen 1856 Southampton Charles 1859 Millbrook Alice 1861 Fallmoth (Freemantle?) Florence 1863 Fallmoth (Freemantle?) Gertrude 1864 Fallmoth (Freemantle?) In 1851 they are living in Southampton In 1861 the family were living in Millbrook In 1871 they are still living in Millbrook. If anyone has anything further on this family and especially can find Philip's marriage, I would be very grateful. Jean All Outgoing Messages are scanned by Norton Anti Virus Software

Mr WILLIAMS spent 14 years in NSW, specially chosen by judges at the Hampshire Assizes in 1820 for a free travel pass. His wife Fanny joined him in NSW at her own expense and they made quite a bit of money as dealers in shipping cedar (part owner of a couple of ships) and selling other commodities. He was a partner in some of those business ventures with the a James Stares SPEARING who achieved his wealth (and a 4000 acre land grant in NSW) through patronage and privilege. Fanny and Jonathan WILLIAMS returned to the IOW (the home of Jonathan Williams and where he had been baptised in 1783) in 1834 and by the time of his death in 1856 had a large number of properties (cottages and land mostly near Brading) which were left to various nieces and nephews (they had no children of their own) after the death of Fanny in 1874 at the age of 85. The will of Jonathan mentions the following surnames His nieces and nephews: LALLOW, WALKER, YOUNG, BURT, RARLLETT, SIMMONDS, O'BRIEN Her nieces and nephews: DICKER, GASTON, THOMPSON Fanny married Benjamin JOLLIFFE in 1859. I understand Benjamin JOLLIFFE was involved with the Bembridge Mill (IOW) at one time. The probate documents include a rough hand drawn family tree! SPEARING (the main subject of my research) also returned to the IOW where he fathered another three (of his eight) illegitimate children and died at Molina Cottage Charisbrooke in 1859. 1. Re: [Ham] IGI - Batch Nos.
    2. ..When you go to FHL ..the IGI page..type in the name you want..If it is there it will come up..down at the bottom there will be numbers..one in the left had should say ..batch number..click that number.. Now the screen will come up again..do not type anything in anywhere..just hit search.. What will come up now is the film that has all of those IGI entries for that particular parish..where they filmed the extracts..You can now scroll down to your surname and see if there are any other entries for your family name..and sometimes you can find additional info that way.. The next suggestion is to go to your FHL and have them order the film for that particular parish..(they can help you find it or you can do it from home on your internet)..When it comes you then can go thru that roll and see what you can pick up..I have found entire families this way..Just order the church records for that particular parish..also make sure the year you are looking for is within the film.. Good luck..am heading to the FHL today..got lots of films to go thru.. C.Olsen in Alaska.
