    3. Hi Linda & Tony, Thank you for regularly bringing our attention, especially those in UK, to BBC programmes of immense interest. However, we in New Zealand feel envious and deprived at not being able to see them. Is there any way that you could put a recording on disk and post it out to, say, The NZ Genealogical Society, from whom we could borrow it. I'm not yet a member, but one of my NY resolutions is to rectify this. Kind regards, Ray Christmas. Researching CHRISTMAS in Hants 1500s & 1600s and CHRESTEMASSE in Sussex & Kent, especially at SUTTON VALENCE whose church did and maybe still does (after major restoration which demolished his picture in a stained glass window) have the tomb with effigy atop, of one knight CHRESTEMASSE in 1300s & 1400s. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Knightroots@aol.com> To: <HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, January 12, 2006 2:44 AM Subject: [Ham] Who do you think you are? > New series starts tonight on BBC 2 at 9pm. > Enjoy,Linda Tony > > > ==== HAMPSHIRE Mailing List ==== > Our ancestors never die > heaven knows where they goes. >

    3. Dear Listers, This topic is slightly off list, but I wonder if anyone can help me, and if so reply to me off list. My husband is working on the restoration of the Gosport Railway Station, that was closed down in 1969. The aim he thinks is to turn it into a mini museum, plus some new homes and office blocks, as usual.!!!! He is interested in any photos or descriptions anyone may have and the history of the station, whose someones ancestor the station master there? Thank you in advance Maria {madgefancy@hotmail.com}

    3. You need someone to look up the full marriage entry from the register of Southampton St Mary. It will tell you the parishes of the bride and groom at the time of the marriage, but will not give the names of the parents. You can see examples of parish register entries at www.british-genealogy.com/resources/registers/indexf.htm Chalton registers are at Portsmouth City Records Office, but Hampshire Record Office has microfiche copies. An on-line search in Family Search (the IGI) found the baptism of David son of David and Martha Jones at Chalton on 10 Mar 1816. There were six Jones baptisms at Chalton between 1816 and 1840. The easiest way to find these is to search for Jones in Batch Number C066291. This can be done through Family Search, but it is easier to go to Hugh Wallis's Batch Number site at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm then click on * Click here to skip this stuff ..... * England * Hampshire * C * C066291 (the batch for Chalton baptisms 1813-1852) Alan McGowan ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sally Walton" <ncwalt@cabletvonline.net> To: <HAMPSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 13, 2006 6:26 PM Subject: [Ham] Re: Marriage Jane Milsom & David Jones Hi! I can't tell you how much I appreciate this information. As I said, I have been looking for ages!! No wonder they weren't in the BMT's!! It was before 1837. Do you think that the original entry would have any other information on where David JONES lived or was born or his parents? I am hoping that he was the David JONES who was b. 1816 Chalton,Hants. Parents possibly David JONES and Martha ELDRIDGE. Where is Hants? Are parish records available for Charlton, Hants? Can anyone help with this?
