Hello Cherryl on the IGI at St Mary's Portsea we have found a marriage for John TERRY & Sarah MARSON 11 June 1781. Could this be them by doing a google search for batch numbers putting in England then Hampshire on County and then scrolling down to Portsea and by putting in a surname the Terry and variant name goes back further. The family search site and IGI should be used with caution and as one source of as many as possible. Doing a google search for Hugh Wallis's batch numbers is very helpful. Hope it helps,Linda & Tony -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Cheryl Sent: 10 February 2008 18:06 To: [email protected] Subject: [HAM] Terry Family

Hello All, I know I have posted this before, but thought I would give it another try. I am at a road block with my Terry family, this is what I have so far: John Terry married Sarah Unknown Children: 1.Harry Terry: Born: 26 Nov.1797, St. Thomas, Portsmouth, Hampshire,England Died: between 1851-1871,(In the 1851 census he was residing at Fitzroy Harbour, Ontario, Canada, with his wife and daughter Mary Ann, and her family, I am assuming he died here as well) Harry Terry married 20 July 1817 at St. Mary's, Portsea, Hampshire, England, Lucy Johnston. Lucy Johnston: Born: 1794, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England Died: between 1871-1881 ( I am assuming that Lucy also died at Fitzroy Harbour, Ontario, Canada) Children: (that I know of) A. Mary Ann Terry: Born: 16 Jan.1825, Saint Mary's, Portsea, Hampshire, England. She married James Wark, 16 Aug.1847, Fitzroy Harbour, Ontario, Canada. I believe Mary Ann died at Fitzroy Harbour, Ontario, Canada as well, about Aug.1858. B. Amelia Sarah Terry: Born: 25 Dec.1822, St. Mary's, Portsea, Hampshire, England. 2. Benjamin Terry: Born 1818 It is believed that this Terry family is related to the famous Dame Ellen Terry line. I would really appreciate any input into this family.Thank you in advance, Cheryl

I also have a Cawte family. Sarah Bell born 1837 and married James Caw in 1862 in Winchester. The family then moved to the London/Surrey area. James was born about 1839. It is possible that his father was Stephen (not confirmed). Hello Lis thanks very much for the site will take a look. Linda and Tony I found the following very useful for traceing an ancestor that went to NZ. It also covers the period 1835 - 1910, and is searched by port of arrival. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~shipstonz/ships_uk&i.html Regards Lis

Hi all Just to let you know that the site has now been set up with new internet hosts (Jaguar). We now have a monthly bandwidth of 210,000 Gb instead of 12Gb. Thanks to Stuart Morgan for the recommendation - keeps the site ad free and gives us some excellent statistics on visitors. We have a number of transcriptions awaiting upload and we will endeavour to sort these in the next couple of days. Take care Linda & Tony Hampshire OPC Co-ordinators
