    3. I have this happening to me as well right now! I found my GG grandmother on the 1881 census listed as being born in 1866. And I have her marriage cert from 1888 and it also says she was born around 1866 (she's listed as 22 on her marriage cert). However, I cannot find her on familysearch.org (even using the batch numbers) nor freebmd. I look at the 1891 census and she's listed as being 23, so that'd work out to be born in 1867. This works out be the same for the 1901 census. The closest person I can find in the area where I know she was born was born in 1864 or 1873! Quite a spread in years.... I'm wondering if this is a case of "fixing the numbers" as she was actually older than her spouse....and I'm not sure how common that was back in the mid-late 1800's. So, I too, am not sure where to look next. Sharon ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, March 06, 2008 2:33 PM Subject: [HAM] Mobile Birthday ? Hi Folks, NELLIE ALBURY was married in 1901.On the certificate she gave her age as 26. Thus she was born c1875. She and her husband emmigrated to the US in the same year. On the 1910 US census (dated 20th Apri)l, census she gives her age as 34 (b1876), the 1920 census shows her to be 42 (b1878) and on the 1930 census she's 52 (b1878). In July of 1922 she applies for a passport. This time she gives her birth details - born in Hampshire, 12th August 1877. All this and I still CANNOT FIND HER !!!!!!!!! I've tried BMD and findmypast sites, different spellings, but to no avail. So, I feel that only leaves Parish Registers. This is uncharted territory to me. Please can sks advise on my next move ? Yours hopefully, Anthony

I'd be interested in some of the names you're researching. 2. Patricia O shea
    3. Hello Ray - can't answer your questions but I am assuming you have John H and Kathleen in the 1901 census? I guess the marriage cert for the Helena in 1911 would at least eliminate that possibility - could be worth the investment just for that. Cheers, Patsy - New Zealand Subject: [HAM] A Missing person - Louisa Josephine Helena DENNY G'day everybody In the hope there is someone out there who can help in our search for Louisa Josephine Helena DENNY b. 19 May 1888, we have posted this to the Hampshire list and the Portsmouth list. We think that she is the Louisa Denny listed in the Salvation Army home in Portsmouth in the 1901 census, aged 12. She may also be the Helena J S Denny who married in 1911 in Portsmouth. possibly to a Henry Churchman (FreeBMD has him as a possible partner). <snip> Is there anyone on either list who may be able to help? Regards

My branch of the family stem from Richard Russen b c1740 but I know the Russens were a Romsey family until the late 1800s when it appears they began to decline and to move.As I am unable to actually get to Hampshire at present I am looking for any reference to the Russen family. They were connected to the Butt family and to Jacobs and Etheredge(whetheredge!)Thanks for showing an interest,Jan Bispham----- Original Message ----- From: "Roy and Betty Mullett" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2008 8:53 AM Subject: Re: [HAM] RUSSEN > What are you looking for and what time frame. > Betty > Canada > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Janice Bispham" <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Tuesday, March 04, 2008 10:31 AM > Subject: [HAM] RUSSEN > > > Just bringing my ' family' out! 3. Hi Edna, I'm afraid I only recognise three of these: ped. fin. = Feet of Fines (documents [usually conveyances] triplicated on the same vellum, cut up with wavy lines to prevent forgery, and the foot retained by the Court of Common Pleas) where fine = final concord (agreement). a quo = (legal) 'from which' in dates, meaning 'not including the first day'. cons. ct. = 1) (legal) 'conclusion to the country', of a case plead before a jury. 2) (ecclesiastical) 'consistory court', the Bishop's court (still going, but of old covered a much wider purview). Regards, David > a.. ped. fin. > b.. plac. de > c.. a quo > d.. cons.ct > e.. ped. ante
