Hi Jim, Great article on Black Irish. Thanks. I know this is a Hamilton page, but my question is this, on some of the US Census, when researching the Irish last name of "Buckley," I came across a few surnames of Buckley with color origin shown with a "B" for black verses "W" for white. Do I assume that this is the actual skin color, or would this be regarding the Black Irish issue? My great grandfather, James Booth Buckley did marry Emma E. Moreland (both born in Ky. and married in 1886 in Ky). She is rumored to be of Indian decent. Full or part Indian is in question and I have not been able to verify this.
