You might want to try http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ to try to obtain your gggrandfather's birth registration. This is a fee-for-service site so you need a credit card (I down graded my limit on one of mine for use on internet sites like this ... just in case!) In searching, the year is post civil registration so you will need place of birth very specific. Good luck, Diane Sheppard
