    3. Can anyone tell me if it is worth the hundred bucks to subscribe to ancestry.com? I have made all of my progress on my own and with the message boards. ----- Original Message ----- From: pkcb113@bellsouth.net Sent: Wednesday, September 18, 2002 11:16 AM To: HAMILTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [HAM] Ancestry.com - special request Glad to help I still have a bone to pick with them, as good as they have been, their attitude still sticks. 3. From my experience with Ancestry.com, it was a waste of my money. I found NOTHING of use during my two year membership. The reason, very few records from my state have been placed on the internet. Had to research on my own anyway. Also, membership renewal is automatic. You are not advised until the charge shows up on your credit card bill. Then they tell you you have to notify them months in advance. My recommendation: SAVE YOUR MONEY. ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Hamilton" <briten821@msn.com> To: <HAMILTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 19, 2002 6:46 PM Subject: Re: [HAM] Ancestry.com - special request > Can anyone tell me if it is worth the hundred bucks to subscribe to ancestry.com? 3.  I'm beginning to think you're right...have been member 3; maybe 4 years or so....tried the census records...too hard to read...likewise the old newspaper resource...nothing. But I've hung on, afraid something that I'm looking for would be added...J.Sing > -----Original Message----- > From: Robert Millson [mailto:rmillson@carolina.rr.com] > Sent: Thursday, September 19, 2002 2:44 PM > To: HAMILTON-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [HAM] Ancestry.com - special request > > > >From my experience with Ancestry.com, it was a waste of my > money. 3. They always call me to see if I want to renew... Also I can't live without the census records and indices (even though indices are not complete). Census images are extra charge. I am getting a bit perturbed by ancestry charging more for everything new. I probably use ancestry more because there is no genealogy library in my town and I have difficulty making it to the nearest one. I have also made use of the marriage and military records...but most of the rest has been of no help to me. I am now trying the newspaper subscription, but so far I don't like the viewer they are using and it takes way too long to search through for the name I am searching for. sharon Robert Millson wrote: >>From my experience with Ancestry.com, it was a waste of my money.
