Hi again, Been having a long pause while I cogitated over my GrGrandfather's beginnings, as follows: WILLIAM HAMILTON b. circa 1830 ( in the LDS, I have found two Wm Hamilton's (1) Wm Hamilton, #20, Born About 1830 Glasgow Scotland, Film # 170659 - Father - Wm. Hamilton - no mum) (2) Wm Hamilton b. 6 April 1828, Relief United Church, Crief, Perth, Scotland, Batch # 191341 Wm Hamilton - Father - no mum) There are many, many Wm Hamilton's, but none with mother Mary West. There was an Agnes West. My WM. HAMILTON, a mason, married ELIZABETH SEAL ( formerly SHIPLEY living in Glasgow ) 29 Dec, 1854 Glasgow, by a Dr. Duncan McFarlan. My Wm Hamilton died, Jan 1870, Swinton Scotland. On his death registration, his daughter stated, that his father's name was WILLIAM HAMILTON and his mother was MARY WEST. I have found several MARY WEST's in the LDS, but none that fit his birth time and place. But if there are that many Mary West's, perhaps one of them is his mother, and my GrGr Grandmother. I have thought for some time that my Wm. Hamilton, may have been a "love child", when the only mention of his mother is on his death registration. Is there any help for us, his ancestors, to learn the answer? Could SKS please look into this for me, or tell me where I might write or look up on the web?
