Also marriage records - these items are public record and available for a fee, of course, from the clerk in the county they were born. Trae back until you reach siblings of your grandfather's and find them or their descendents. Usually, unless it is a town of 2,500 or more, you can visit, say their names and people can direct you to their house (even the UPS lady knows where I moved to, who my sister is and where my mom works, etc). The post office is also very helpful in that regard. Once you find his people, you are in like Flynn. They know who went where and why and even if they don't have contact info, they can at least get you into the last known area and you can take it from there.
