My Gr-Grandfather left KY in 1860's and went to Missouri and then on to Iowa where the next several generations stayed. I have a lot of info on Orlando P. Hamilton and further generations. Like you, I'm stuck getting back to Ireland with John. I have found some interesting info about his Rev. War record and land grant payment, etc., and I have a theory about his brother, William, any why nothing is ever found about him.
