Mr. Richardson, We only have the names of William and Sarah to go that was on their children's baptismals. They all took place in County Tyrone, Parish of Urney, residence of Claudy, Diocese of Derry. We think that the first child was born in 1826-1827 by the name of Martha-Baptismal date is September 16 performed by Edward Atkinson. William's profession was a Miller. We've not been able to find a marriage certificate for William & Sarah. Our John (S.) Stuart was the 6th born, Baptismal Date is September 19, 1841. We have a birth date of March 28, 1840 somewhere in Northern Ireland. He was in the Civil War in Iowa, but we don't have the name of the ship that he came on or where it docked, but was to come to the states in 1849-1850 to Pennsylvania, marrided Ruth Martin in 1868 in Iowa after the war. We have lost him after he arrived until his Civil War days. Let me know if any of this is a connection for you. Living in Ky in 1831 County Tyrone and Hamilton are both very familiar. I have a great uncle, Charles Stuart Hamilton, born 1869 in Berkeley Heights, NJ, son of William Buchanan Hamilton of Mullawinney, Ireland. William married Anne Frazee, another old New Jersey family, and was one of 8 born between 1817 and 1835 in County Tyrone. The Stuart was for King Charles of England. Very common names, all. A bit difficult to sort them out, although it's likely there is some family connection. Do you know any more about the Co Tyrone locations of your ancestors? Apparently not a connection. As I'm sure you know, the mid 1800's was a busy time for Irish immigrants to America, and the Hamilton surname was quite popular! My Tyrone Hamilton's were in Mullawinney, Fintona and that area. ----- Original Message ----- From: DONALD A HAMILTON FOR D T HAMILTON<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 09, 2006 10:35 PM Subject: Re: [HAM] re: Thomas Hamilton b Ireland before 1765.
