My line goes back to William Hamilton (1793-1866) who married Sarah Griffin. William's father was a James Hamilton--I have no idea where James was from, but he married a girl named Abigail Moore, James and Abigail Moore Hamilton were the parents of my William Hamilton. Apparently James died when William was very young, because by about the year 1800 William's mother had remarried to a man named John Coburn, and the three of them (John Coburn, his wife Abigail Moore Hamilton Coburn, and his stepson--my ancestor--William Hamilton moved to Anson (now Union) Co, NC. Problem is, I have no idea where they moved FROM!! Also Abigail seems to promptly disappear from the picture, as does her husband. I do know my William spent the rest of his life in the area, he married (as I said) Sarah Griffin and fathered a large family. Many of his descendants live in the area of Marshville in Union Co, NC.
