    1. Re: [HAM] James Hamelton/Hamilton of Edgefield SC
    2. In 1822 David Langley's will in Edgefield Co. SC states that his wife's name is Sarah, and she has a son named James Hamilton. It states, "I bequeath to my wife Sarah Langley during her life or widowhood all the land I now own that lyes on the South Side of my Spring Branch, one feather bed and furniture, one cow and calf, one chest, one cubbard, seven head of sheep and five head of hogs and my mare I give to my wife and James Hamelton my wife son be twixt the two." Also, "I give to James Hamelton after my wifes death or marriage fifty acres of land to be laid out of that left my wife agoining Landers/Sanders Hamelton ’s Land." Can anyone identify James Hamelton or Landers/Sanders Hamelton in Edgefield Co., SC? Sarah was married to James' father before she married David Langley. Does anyone know who Mr. Hamilton was or when he died? David Langley also names his mother-in-law Mary Anderson. Sarah's maiden name may have been Anderson, or Mary may have remarried.
