Hamilton, Harold L. Harold L. Hamilton Harold L. Hamilton, 87 of Sherman, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Absolute Care in Westfield, N.Y. He was born July 5, 1921 in Clymer, to Harry and Edith (King) Hamilton. Early on, Harold had his own trucking business, and he loved working on cars; for most of his life he did car detailing. He worked at, and in 1983 retired from, BOCES (Hewes Occupational Center) in Ashville, N.Y., where he was the Night Supervisor. Since his retirement, he has worked for his son at Findley Lake Marine running errands each summer. A favorite pastime was making the rounds of the local diners, his favorites being Red's Best Pancake House, Dick's Harbor House, Bob Evans, and Cracker Barrel. Harold was a member of Sherman Community Church. He belonged to Sherman's Stanley Hose Company for 46 years, and he served in World War II. Survivors include: daughter, Judy and husband Keith Ellison of Leesburg, Florida; four sons: Jim of Sherman, Jon and wife Melissa of Sherman, Jesse and wife Ju! dy of Waxahachie, Texas, and Jack and wife Sherri of Findley Lake; Grandchildren: Meridyth Henry of Florida, Marty Hamilton of Greenfield, Pa., Becky Hamilton, Cindy Johnson, Randy Hamilton, and Chelsea Yergens all of Sherman, Stephanie Yergens of Amherst, New York, and Janson, Jory and Jacey Hamilton all of Waxahachie, Texas; Great Grandchildren: Joseph May of North Carolina, David May of Florida, Marvin Rublee, Josh Morton, Winston Hall, Karin Hamilton, and Daisy Hamilton all in New York, and RJ and Mathew Hamilton of Pa.; and his sister, Doris Gabriel, of Sherman. Harold was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Janson whom he married August 28, 1944, and who died in 1987, three brothers, Floyd, Earl, and Kenneth Hamilton. Visitation will be held from 7pm to 9pm Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Spitzer Funeral Home in Sherman. Funeral services will be 11a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2009 at the funeral home with visitation observed one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stanley Hose Company, Sherman, N.Y. or the Findley Lake Fire Department, Findley Lake, N.Y.
