I am going nuts over this Hamilton/Hambleton thing." John Hamilton In reply to John Hamilton and to Hamilton List Members: I don't think this is very funny. I am neither "something" nor special. I am just like about any other person on this list -- trying to find more information about my family. My father died shortly before I was born and that whole side of the family is "gone" to me as far as family history goes. I am trying to piece my father's side of the family back together again and know I have a long way to go, but have found quite a bit of info thus far through the help of friends and family on the internet, especially the rootsweb mailing lists, by posting the surnames I am researching. Believe it or not, I've had several people on the list contact me for more information on the "surnames" I listed and have already made one "cousin" connection this past week alone. It is people like you who make some of us (who are serious about genealogy) not want to post our info, share our databases, etc. if this is the kind of treatment we are to receive. Jackie I only meant you are doing a lot more than I can. If that upset you I'm sorry but you really must be something. I see no reason why you should leave the list I only meant to compliment you in a round about way. Do you have any info about Hamilton/Hambelton connection? John
Jackie, not being you I can't say from your perspective but I didn't take John's remark as catty or insulting.. I took it in the spirit it was written.. You've worked hard and have had good results. Not all of us have as much time or resources as we'd like to put into our family history.. Be proud of your accomplishment.. always looking and asking.. I'm constantly asking people I meet "who's your momma's people"? never know, might be kin in some form or other, married or blood.. Your list is quite impressive.. I count everyone in the family, direct descendants married someone and I include their family as well, at least as best I can. Emails are hard to read sometimes as far as inflection and tone.. now that I've overstepped my bounds I'll be quiet.. Sandy Hamilton in SC these are my adopted lines.. HAMILTON WOODSIDE CRAIG CALDWELL JONES DAVES NELSON MARTIN BISHOP LEDINSKY JENKS.. just a few in my lines.. ADICK is my birth parents names.. a hit with anyone??
