Born January 19, 1950 in Lansing, MI to Walter and Virginia Hamilton, a resident of Las Cruces, NM since 1957. He served in the Army-RA-Infantry as a"Dogman" (K-9 handler) 1967-1969. Served in the Vietnam war where he received a Purple Heart for a land mine injury. He also received the Vietnam Service Medal. National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Sharpshooter. A graduate of New Mexico State University (NMSU) with a Fine Arts degree. A charter member of the, then, Las Cruces Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of New Mexico. This association later joined Vietnam Veterans of American (VVA) where Bud served as State Council President for New Mexico. He was later elected to the VVA Region Nine Director, served as a member of the VVA National Board of Directors and Vice President of the VVA Assistance Fund. Bud is preceded in death by his father, Walter F. Hamilton Jr. of Alamogordo and ne! phew Chad Turner of Cloudcroft. He is survived by his wife, Terry; sons, Matthew and Michael of Las Cruces; daughter, Holly Pope of N. Richland Hills, TX; mother, Virginia Hamilton of Alamogordo; sisters, JoAn Turner and her husband, Steve of Cloudcroft, their children, Amy Graham, Craig Turner; sister, Jean Mutch and her husband, Sinclair of Littleton, CO, their sons, Scott, Trevor, Brandon and daughter, Nicole; brother, Wayne Hamilton and his wife, Deborah of Alamogordo, their children, John and Kevin Muir; granddaughter, Brittany Pope. A Memorial service and Tribute to Bud will be held Saturday, June 20, 1998 11:00 a.m. at Getz Funeral Home in Las Cruces. Please bring a memory of Bud to share.
