    3. To the Canadian Hamilton researchers. I guess the reason I haven't been very visible on the list of late, is that I've just about given up. Maybe it's time to try again. I'm looking for a Hugh Hamilton. I have been told he was an "accounted Officer (whatever that means), in the British Army. I don't know where he was born (England possibly). I believe he came across "The Pond", but not sure of his destination. Could have been Nova Scotia, but might have been USA. Hugh had a son, John, born about 1788, whom I believe was taken by the "Press Gang". It is told that he and four other men escaped from the ship and swam to an Island. I believe that must have happened around Halifax, for in 1810 I find him getting land in Musquodoboit, Halifax County, Nova Scotia. John married Jane Mason of Rawdon, N.S., about 1814 and had a family of nine children. He is my Gr. Gr. Grandfather. Anyone have a Hugh Hamilton who might fit into this scenario? I'd love to hear about him. Gloria.
