Regarding the recent notes about Hamiltons in Canada and Hamiltons from the Hamilton area of Scotland, I have information on a family that involves both. My earliest confirmed Hamilton ancestor was John Hamilton who married Marion Hill in Hamilton, Scotland in 1759. Their son Andrew (born 1763 in Hamilton, Scotland) and four of Andrew's children and their families emigrated to Renfrew County, Ontario about 1830. A very large number of descendants, most of whom still live in Canada, have resulted from these immigrants.
