Mine begins with Henry A. (or could be D.) Hamilton, born Jan. 29, 1813 in Virginia. He married Ann Elizabeth McNally, born July 12, 1818 in Virginia. They moved to Ohio and had nine children. Addison Charles "Add" Hamilton born 10-31-1842, Athens County, OH died 9-4-1914, Oklahoma Territory married Olive Lucretia Whaley 9-3-1864 in Pomeroy, Meigs County, OH Lydia M. Hamilton born 8-1-1840, Bedford Township, Meigs County, OH Elizabeth J. Hamilton born 5-22-1844 William Chandler Hamilton 6-23-1846, Athens County, OH Lucretia M. Hamilton born 9-16-1848, Athens County, OH John C. Hamilton born 11-16-1849, Athens County, OH Oliver and Olive Hamilton, twins born 9-29-1853, Athens COunty, OH C.D. Hamilton born 3-1-1856, Athens County, OH If anyone can give me more information on this family, I would be grateful. Family lore says our first Hamilton in the US was Robert Hamilton b. about 1761 in Scotland (BUT his son says in the 1880 census that both his parents were born in PA, so we don't know if there is a generation missing?). Robert m. Lilia Maria Polk. He was in the US by 1813 in Beaver Co. PA, went to Meigs Co. Ohio in the 1850s. He was a school teacher, as was his son, Milton Josiah Hamilton, b. 1816 who m. Sophia Lyons. She was born in PA as were both her parents (1880 census). Milton's children were, in addition to Joseph Boyd Hamilton, Octavia, Mary, Milton, Curtis, Howard, Cora. Joseph Boyd Hamilton's children were Thena, Sarah, Estelle, Cora and Abner. We know there were Boyds in the family, but we're not sure how they are connected. My father in law remembers meeting a cousin who was a Boyd back in the 40s.
