Dah! That should have been in the subject line. Webmaster: Please note the subject line; not the subject line to which I responded. ~Paul -----Original Message----- From: Paul Mattoon [mailto:Paul.Mattoon@Dynamex.com] Sent: Monday, January 13, 2003 9:28 AM To: HAMILTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [HAM] Unsubscribe Dear Jackie, Please consider re-joining the list, dear cousin. This email medium can be so easily misinterpreted. While I didn't take John's post as derogatory, rereading it, I can see how it's possible. I was then, and am now, convinced it was a compliment, i.e., he was not injecting any humor. I learned the hard way about the sensitivities of this medium, 'bout a year ago, when while kidding about a cousin about copyright laws. Being a Hamilton, I thought I could kid (being oblivious to such sensitivities). However, many of the members on this list--not knowing me and not knowing I was therefore kidding--were offended. My earnest plea for urging you to consider rejoining the list is, like you, I was denied my Hamilton past (through the early death of my grandfather and divorce of my mother). Reconstructing the past has been such a blessing and a joy, and have met so many cousins that have warmed my heart, that through adversity and pain suffered in the past, I've inadvertently been blessed. Our Hamilton ancestors are too, too precious to give up on, and this list is too valuable a resource from which to withdraw on the pretence of a perceived offence. We on this list are--without question--family. Moreover, I have yet to find a vindictive, mean-spirited Hamilton who's been interested in genealogy, and this incident has only renewed my resolve to scruntinize my reactions upon perceiving that I have been offended. (BTW, I am very quick to anger and PTL quick to forgive--don't know whether that's a Hamilton trait or not--but have been told it's so.) Please accept my best wishes to you on your research, irrespective of your decision. Paul Mattoon Garland, Texas proud son/grandson of Ann Marie Hamilton, Albert Leon Hamilton (NC), James Monroe Hamilton (NC-FL-NC), Joseph Alexander Hamilton (and his mother, Mary) (NC)--and still searching. -----Original Message----- From: Jackie Nordeen [mailto:JacquelineNordeen@nordeen.org] Sent: Sunday, January 12, 2003 11:33 PM To: HAMILTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HAM] Unsubscribe This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
