Hamilton came from Ireland prior to 1857. He married Mary Logan, daughter of Martin & Ellen Logan of North Hempstead Township, Queens, NY. Both Mary and her parents came from Ireland. William H. worked as a carpenter. William H and Mary Logan Hamilton have five children: William J. Hamilton (b. 1857) married Josephine Quinn. They had four children Malcolm(1892), Adele(1895)Flannery, Helen(1897)Russell, and Regina(1903)McKeown. William J. was a famous builder in Douglaston, NY. http://www.dlnhs.org/douglastonhill/dhresidentsHamilton.cfm Joseph F. Hamilton (b. 1861/2) dies childless in 1907. He was the postmaster of Manhasset, NY. Elisha/Alicia Hamilton (b. 1862/3) married Joseph Brown and had two children, Regina(1908)Driscoll, and Gerard(1900). Martin E. Hamilton (b. 1868) married Anna and had two children, Joseph(6/27/1907) and Mary(1915). Martin was the builder of St. Mary's Church in Manhasset. Joe Hamilton was a locally famous singer. John E. Hamilton (b. 1871) married Jane and had three children, Edward T.(1901), William A.(1909) and John J.(1913). John was also a carpenter/builder. You can find this family in the 1870 census-- North Hempstead, Queens, NY on page 54 (57 on-line). They appear on the 1873 Johnson map in Manhasset, slighty SW of Mill Pond. The area is enlarged on the Manhasset map-- you cannot see them on the North Hempstead map. I would like to exchange information with others on this line.
