She was born in Oct. 1765 in PA. She and Joseph had 7 children: Anne, James, Alexander Hamilton, Sarah, John, Benjamin, & Thomas. The family lived in or around Muskingum Co., OH. Mary died in Guernsey Co., OH in Sept. 1854. Family lore says she was related to Alexander Hamilton, Sec. of the Treasury under Geo. Washington. I have been searching for years for the connection and haven't been successful beyond all the Alexander/Hamilton names down through the generations, which, alone, doesn't prove anything. Does anyone know anything about Alexander Hamilton's cousins, or children of his brother James, or possible half siblings through his father? At the same time, does anyone know any more about this Mary Hamilton and her family? Thanks, Jan Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Thank you, Mary I am in this to help people and to get help and it works both ways. I volunteer as a RAOGK on rootsweb, and go to the library get information not my family or even close to my family and sometimes they don't even acknowledge they got it or one lady told me she already had that, however some have sent more than enough money to pay for my gas and time, even though I don't charge. I have been on the other end that someone helped me in another state where I could not possibly have gotten the information as quick or as cheap. I hope I sufficently thanked and paid for that service. There will be a day someone will actually know my lines and it has happened and a brickwall came down. I hope someone is patient with me and I forget to appropriately say thank you or hit the delete key instead of send, that happens too. These Hamiltons are hard enough with out a distraught word or someone withholding info because they didn't get a proper thank you. - "This is what the past is for! I wish I could just find mine in Maryland. the 1850 census Tallapoosa/elmore or Coosa (my records are at home) County Alabama shows George Hamilton born Ma. I suppose that means Massachusetts. 1860 Coosa County, Alabama census shows him born SC. There was a William Hamilton next door in 1850 census, could be his father, could be an uncle at the age is showed. To get further back is a nightmare, with all the movement and Williams and George's. Sorry I can't help and I would if I could. -- "This is what the past is for!
