He married Sarah (possibly Massey). Their known children were: George W. b: 1839 Delaware; Courtland C. b: 1845 Delaware; John Quimby b: 1849 Delaware; Franklin Pierce b: 1852 Delaware (my g-grandfather); William b: 1855 Iowa (died 1860 in IA.); Elvira M. b: 1860 Iowa. Family lore on Joseph was that he was an orphan, from Scotland. I have nothing on who Joseph's parents could be or where they were from. In the 1850 New Castle County, Christina Hundred, Delaware census, Joseph is listed as a Stone Mason. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. THe old photo says "Hamilton Reunion, Ausut 27, 1914, Kellogg Studio, Cuba, NY". There is also a typed letter, dated 1939, from an Uncle Charles to Jolee - telling him why cannot make it to the reunion that year. There is a 1928 newspaper clipping telling of the annual reunion of the descendants of Benjamin Hamilton, a solldier of the war of 1812...... There is another newspaper clipping dated 1929 also telling of the Hamilton reunion at Batavia, NY. There is a newspaper clipping dated 1928 of marriage of Miss Allegra Estelle Hamilto of Batavia (daughter of Charles Hamilton) who married Karl Freeman Rogers of New York City. Other newspaper clippings have names of Mrs. Grant Wagner died in 1929, Miss Mildred Irene Ludden, Jolee Witter, Mrs. Cora Cole Hamilton, Mrs. Levi Farwell of Cuba died in 1930, Miss Auta Cline married Grant Wagner in 1929, Mrs. Maria Stockwell died in 1932, Miss Margaret Esther Huntington married Ernest D. Witter in 1932, Mrs. Charles Moulton died in 1934, Miss Ethel Bryant of Haskell married Herman Sherlock in Olean in 1933, Mr. William B. Van Deventer died in 1935 in Friendship at home. I'm trying to locate any of this family so that these pieces of history go to the right ones. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He was born in PA. possibility Beaver Co., PA. about 1794 and died in Delaware Township,Mercer Co., PA on 31 March 1866. I don't know his wife's name, not on the 1850 Mercer Co. census, assuming she died before it was taking. In 1840 census for Mercer Co. lists a woman of the right age to be his wife. I do know names of his children: 1 - Charlotte Moore, b: 20 Jun 1817, Mercer Co., PA.??, d: 26 Feb 1891, Lebanon, Red Willow Co., NE. 2 - Nancy Moore, b: 1828, Mercer Co., PA. ?? 3 - Merbey Moore, b: 1832, Mercer Co., PA. ?? (not sure if a boy or girl ??) 4 - Isabel Moore, b: 1834, Mercer Co., PA. ?? 5 - Simeon Moore, b: 1836, Mercer Co., Pa., Simeon Moore is my 3g grand father, but in the 1860 census for Mercer Co., his name is given as Simeon Hamilton ?? We think that he is James Moore's grand son ? In the rest of the Mercer Co. census he always uses the Simeon Moore Hamilton and on everything else he signs. In James Moore's will He gives Simeon his 100 or so acre family farm in Delaware Township. but states that he has to pay James Moore's mentioned heirs seven hundred dollars each at his death. James also willed Simeon $100 dollars along with Charlotte Moore. I'm trying to find out who James wife was and if he had any other daughters that would've been of the age to be Simeon's mother. I've been unable to find out who Simeon's parents are. Have a copy of Civil War file, death cert. nothing gives the names of parents. That's why I think he was James Moore's grandson, at first I though Simeon was his son since I could never find any info on him before 1860. Charlotte and her husband David (or Daniel) Porter named one of their sons Hamilton Moore. Simeon's first son was named James Moore Hamilton and he named his second son Simeon Moore Hamilton.
