Hi Sandy: I'll share any information I have, however I don't have any information from South Carolina Hamilton's, I have only seen reference to them on some of the web sites I have visited. I actually have nothing documented outside of Virginia. What name and time period are you looking for? My Hamilton's were in Nelson County Virginia and Augusta County Virginia. My grandfather was Samuel Hamilton who married Luella (ella) Brown who was part Cherokee Indian. Also 5 generations back from Samuel was Benjamin Hamilton who married Susannah Moonglow Hurst who was said to be Cherokee. They were all from Tenn., Virginia. Kentucky and West Virginia Deloris Hamilton Ingram (Dji1143@webtv.net)
It has been told that our Hamilton married a Crump female whose mother was Indian--Mississippi or Alabama. -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: HAMILTON-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Sun, 11 Jan 2009 9:43 pm Subject: [HAM] Hamilton/Indian Ancestry This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. I am always trying to knock down my brick wall. I'm hoping there are some new Hamilton researchers that might connect. Anthony L. Hamilton, born 1789 in SC. He m'd Elizabeth Woodside of the Samuel Cunningham Woodside's. Anthony and Elizabeth married in Livingston Co KY w/ a bond recorded 9/11/1810 but was filed w/ 1811 papers. They had at least 2 sons, Woods L. Hamilton b 1814 and Anthony Stewart Hamilton-b 1828. I am sure that there were other children but have been unable to document such. At some point the family migrates to the Pinckneyville area of Illinois. Woods (b 1814 died 1868) m's Nancy Jane Armstrong (b1824- died 1895) and they have 11 children between the years 1842-1866-Martha Jane, Susan E, Mary A, John A, Thomas, Sadie, Albert, Sarah, Letha Clementine, Ellen and Alfred. Anthony (b 1828 died 1880) m's Jane Brown Kimzey (b-1820 died 1882) in 1855. They had 5 children together w/ the 8 Kimzey children Jane already had. Unknown Hamilton, Ephriam Elijah, John Smith, Juliet Annis, Loretta Hamilton. There are a couple more generations that carry the family from Illinois down into Colorado and back east to West Virginia. If any of this sounds familiar I'd be happy to give more info. Thanks in advance Sandy Hamilton
