    3. Teresa, I have only one cousin but I can't get him to do the DNA test. Everyone else has passed away. I just wished I would have been interested when I was younger and still had Grandparents. What little I have came from mother and she went with me to do research at the countryseat, she had some names but not much else. How do you get into the Hamilton DNA? I thought that had to be a male. My earliest Hamilton was Benjamin born Aug 1796 in Virginia and died June 29, 1829 in Butler Co, Ky he married a Lucretia ? about 1797 in Va. They were in Shelby Co,Ky before the came to Butler Co. Can't find him in Shelby Co but the deed I found at courthouse for him said was in Shelby Co when bought the land in Butler Co. His last 2 children are the only one born in Ky rest in Va. He may have been married twice, one a guess for the birth dates of the children. Been to the Hamilton/Reed-Reid cemetery about 8 to 10 years ago, HAD pic's of tombstones but in our move from Ohio to here in Ky have lost most of my research. I didn't get everything into FTM, and just can't redo my searches. 3. Karen, I usually only research out a couple of generations from the main tree but I do have several Hills linking into my Hamilton line from Virginia. My line goes into the Hamilton line at least three generations back and I descend via a Female line. If every I find a male that can be traced to my line I will definitely try to get them to contribute. I have seen many references about an Andrew Hamilton from Augusta County Virginia going to South Carolina and then somehow a few children go back to Virginia and I even think I have seen a couple going to Ohio. Its interesting that your line ends up in Russell County, I have other adject lines that end up in Russell, Tazewell and Buchanan Counties, however those lines came from the Virginia/North Carolina line of Stokes County. Wonder if something attracted families to go to this area? as it would have been frontier back then. Schuyler's father is thought to be James Hamilton b Jan 15 1757. This James had a son James born 1775. I do not have any additional data on this son. There was a Robert Hamilton of about the same age as James (1757) and may have been a brother. This Robert is documented as remaining in Nelson county until mid 1820s. I have not searched the Hamilton's that remained in Nelson county after about 1800 since James and Schuyler left around 1790 and end up in Russell county Va. by 1810. I have a document that shows both spellings Hamilton and Hambleton in the one document talking about one individual. So the spellings were considered interchangeable. Hamilton is the Scottish version and Hambleton is English spelling. If you know of any Hamilton males that are descended from your James, PLEASE consider joining the Hamilton DNA project. This could definitely indicate if there is a direct male link between our lines. 3. Teresa, Sorry to but in on your email, but I have a question. I did the MTDNA and it come back with 194 names none from where I thought my Hamiltons are or were. What can I do now? 3. I have researched my husband's Hamilton Line and of course the indian ancestry came up. Some say it was from the Baker side of the family. But what I found out it was from the Wilson side. Robert Henry Hamilton of Coosa County/Talladega County, Alabama married Myrtle Wilson d/o of William Newton Wilson, s/o John Deport Wilson, born Amelia County, Va in 1794,whose ancestry in a book showed the Wilson's was related to pocohontas. I know that is farfetched and many people claim that one, but that is the only indian relationship I have been able to come up with. Pat -- "This is what the past is for!
