Author: KPlausky Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.hamilton/7069/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The common idea that I've come across is that William Hamilton married a Mary Jane Bitener (b 1703 in Ireland as well) in the year 1718. She was 15 when she married?! That's not the biggiest issue I have however. Her accepted year of death is 1814. Has anyone been able to verify this? Did someone actually live to be 111 back then? That seems highly unlikely. However, if anyone has been able to verify these dates, I would be very interested to see the sources. Author: camcc2 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.hamilton/1733.2218.2325.1.1.1.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Dear Lainey My research is consistent with yours. My Hamilton link to this line is through my 5th great grandmother, Jane Hamilton of Drumeny, daughter of James Hamilton of Prospect and Marion Hamilton, daughter of Hugh Hamilton of Drumeny (2). Hugh was great grandson of John Hamilton in Priestfield and grandson of William Hamilton of Priestfield, then later, Ballyfatton, and his wife, Janet Moore and son of Hugh Hamilton of Drumeny (1). Marion and her husband, James were first cousins. James's father was a brother(name not known) of Hugh Hamilton of Drumeny (2). My uncle had research done on the family by Debrett. There was a significant amount of Hamilton inter-marriage which can be very confusing indeed. I do not have a known male relative in the DNA study as my descent was through a female line. Jane died in 1764. Please contact me on camcc (NOSPAM)@optusnet.com.au. I am happy to share the research. Best wishes Catherine Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My father is a participant in the Hamilton DNA project. He matches a descendent of Hugh/Hew Hamilton and Marion Gibbs. George Hamilton, 1933, The History of the House of Hamilton, suggests that the Priestfield, Lisdivin and Ballyfatton Hamiltons are connected to Patrick Hamilton of Kinnivel. The exact connection is not known. I'm still trying to figure out how Andrew is related to Hugh and William Hamilton, but there are a lot of coincidential bits of info that make me think he might be close to the Patrick of Killeter line. Pynar's survey has an interesting bit of data. There is an Andrew Hamilton who holds several pieces of land he received from his WILSON 'unkles'. Have you run across any Hamilton in the Priestfield, Lisdivin and Ballyfatton Hamiltons who was married to a Wilson female?
