    3. In addition to the Hamilton National Genealogical Society (www.hamiltongensociety.org) that Larry Hamilton described that is decidated to genealogial information, there is also a Clan Hamilton Society (www.clanhamilton.org) that focuses on our Hamilton history and Scottish heritage. Both of these societies encourage membership at very reasonable rates and also provide general information to nonmembers. There is a lot of 'free' information available on the web, but as you turn to more serious research you may wish to develop more focus. Joining of list with similiar interest is a very good method to 'swap' information. However, you should make sure of what the list ( what is goals of list, how will data be handled or protected, and how reliable is the accuracy of the information). Also, people should recipicate in these types of 'internet' research exchanges. If you ask for information also provide information. Either a short cameo of your Hamilton tree with oldest ancestor or your main research objectives would be useful to others as a means to establish an information swap John Hamilton Clan Hamilton Web Master ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lawrence Hamilton Sr." <hamgen@planetkc.com> To: <HAMILTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 05, 2002 8:17 AM Subject: [HAM] Web sites > For those wanting to subscribe to a web site, but yet know nothing about it, this is a site posted by a member of the Hamilton List. 3. I to have both HAMILTON's and STEELE's in my line, I have the genealogy for James Steele b 1741 Blarney, Castle, Carrick Macross,County Monaghan, Province of Ulster Ireland. He came to America in 1771 and stayed with STEELE relatives in Cumberland, PA then into Westmoreland, PA where he married Elizabeth McMasters, then Elizabeth Donaldson My family HAMILTON's came from Scotland in 1769-1770 and went first to Cumberland, PA then into Westmoreland PA until 1902 when some moved to Newark, NJ.
