Could this be a second marriage for your Chester? Found in Cuyahoga Co. OH on 1820 census and in Lake Co. IL in 1840 and 1850. In 1850 there was a son Melvin age 26 - so born before Chester married Dorothy. Chester is age 60 in 1850 and Dorothy is age 49. There is also a son Spencer age 30 with them. What I wish to determine is if Dorothy was the daughter of my ancestor, Azariah Brooks.

My data comes from family history information recorded in 1809 and 1830 by his son, Dr. Horatio Arnold Hamilton (1778-1850). It was copied by his and supplemented by Asa's greatgrandson, Horatio Asa Hamilton (1840-1918) and published in "The Genealogy of the Hamilton Family from 1716 to 1894", compiled by Salome Hamilton, printed by A.C. Bausman, Minneapolis, MN, 1894. Later info comes from my own Somers (CT) cemetery research. Please e-mail me directly.

Surnames: Burns, Hamilton, Pullum Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xFh.2ACEB/3244 Message Board Post: James Charles (Charlie) Burns (born on 17 Feb 1825; died on 16 Feb 1901) was a descendant of Anthony Burns, John Burns, and Bartholomew John Burns, and I believe, of a Bartholomew Burns who came to the USA from Scotland. Charlie Burns was born in Washington County, FL, but later moved to area in-between Malvern and Slocomb in what is now eastern Geneva County, AL. He was my paternal great-grandfather. Charlie Burns married Rebecca Ann Hamilton (06 Sep 1833 - 22 Sep 1917), and they had eleven children together. One of those, Eliza Jane (sometimes spelled Elisa, and often without the Jane) Burns (28 JUL 1855 - 02 JUN 1933), married my grandfather, John Drayton Pullum (1853-1936), and they had ten children together. I know nothing of Rebecca's ancestry, and very little, as you can see, of Charlie's. Hence this posting, and several others. I know that Charlie Burns served in the War Between the States (nothing "Civil" about that War, boy!), and a family legend says he fought at Gettysburg. After the War ended and he was released (was he a POW of the Yankees -- ???), he walked home from somewhere in Maryland or Virginia or some such place to the southeastern corner of Alabama, thereby ruining his feet for the rest of his life. For their descendants seeking their burial place, let me advise that Charlie and Rebecca and several generations of their descendants are buried in the Burns' Assembly of God Church cemetery, which used to be the Panther Creek Methodist Church prior to a Holy Spirit revival breaking out in the 19-teens and causing the Methodists to close the church. The spirit-filled members later bought the property from the Alabama Annual Conference of the ME Church, South, and reopened the church as an Assembly. The church's address is as follows: Burns' Assembly of God 1736 CR 30 Slocomb, AL 36375. Its' telephone number is (334) 886-2110. Anyone connected to the ancestors or descendants of Charlie Burns and/or of Rebecca Ann Hamilton, or having info on his military service record should contact me directly. Thank you! My name is Rev. Larry F. Pullum, and my address is as follows: 3638 CR 203 Rehobeth, AL 36301-7725. My telphone number is (334) 677-3800. And, my e-mail address is Larfpul@Hotmail.com.

My maternal grandmother, Emily Valletta Hamilton was born in Indiana on MARCH 24,1854. She moved to Des Moines via covered wagon while still quite young. She married one Stephen Henry Daniels (B Monroe County, PA October 01, 1854) there, gave birth to my mother in 1883 and then moved to Los Angeles, CA. Is there any connection to your Hamilton's from Indiana? -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of nhwcar@aol.com Sent: Thursday, June 27, 2002 11:23 AM To: HAMILTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HAM] Re: Message 504 This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Would the folks that post please put a location in the post. Names have been repeated so often in the Hamilton family that it is not enough to go on. Even a general area such as NorthEast or whatever would be helpful. This is a very active list as yet I havn't seen any Hamiltons from Maine but hope to. Al
