Looking for data on a Francis and Lydia HAMILTON. They were in Marion/Dillon Co. of SC in the very late 1700s and early 1800s. Any assistance appreciated Audrey
For the record what I have was given to me by a Steele family member, it is Generation 1-6 of James Steele b 1741 Blarney Castle, Carrick Macross, County Monaghan, Province of Ulster, Ireland.. he died on September 10,1823 in Mt Pleasant, PA. He married 1st Elizabeth McMasters 2nd Elizabeth Donaldson. Mr. Joseph Hamilton of Richland, this county, accidentally shot and killed himself last Tuesday. He was killing hogs and had discharged his gun, and re-loaded it but after knocking around building fires etc. he returned to where he had left the gun, and forgetting whether he loaded it or not placed his foot on the hammer andproceded to blow in a the muzzle, to ascertain whether it was loaded, when his foot slipped discharging the gun the ball entered the mouth and came out at the back of the head, killing him instantly. Deceased leaves a family and a large circle of friends and relatives to mourn his death. He was buried Wednesday near his home with masonic honors, so we understand.

After Robert died, Agnes moved to the US with some of her sons, eventually living with her son James and being buried in New Mexico. Somehow, though, I suspect not. I imagine Rebecca's first and only marriage was to Charlie Burns. I have a photo of the two of them which I will gladly share with any of her relatives or with any of his, should I ever come across any. Elizabeth and Benjamin had five sons, one who died in infancy. He married Catharine Holley in 1866. Catharine and Benjamin had six sons and three daughters. Benjamin was ordained as a Mennonite minister in 1868. Moved to Livingston Co., IL and lived there until 1883. Moved to Cherokee Co. Kansas and then Marion Co., Kansas. Ordained to Office of Bishop in 1887. Died 10 May 1898 in KS (probably Marion Co.) Catharine died in Newton KS 20 Sep 1918.

He had a sister Grace Fullarton Hamilton b. 1838, Alice Hamilton b. 1843 (married John McTavish - my GG Grandparents), Agnes Hamilton b. ? (married ? McNeill). Alexander Hamilton b. circa 1806 was the son of Robert Hamilton and Grace Fullarton of Isle of Arran (per LDS). Your message caught my eye as Agnes and Alice both were living in Greenock in the 1870-1880 time period when their parents passed away. The year 1907 is purportedly the year Alice Hamilton & John McTavish's son Duncan came to Canada ... my G Grandpa. You are lucky to have those middle names as clues of ancestors ...

They are three of the children of Addison Charles Hamilton and Olive Lucretia (Whaley) Hamilton. The children are Wilbert Hamilton (2/16/1876 - 2/16/1876), Mary E. Hamilton (7/26/1873 - 7/26/1873) and Laura Hamilton (2/1/1884 - 3/9/1884). Wilbert and Mary share a headstone. Both headstones are virtually unreadable and very old, but it never hurts to have photos of where they're buried. Her mothers name was Roena Massingill but i dont know what her maiden name was. She was married to Willy Massingill. They are all buried at Davis Cemetary in Little Brush Creek.
