Barbara, Thank you. My Thomas was the son of Abraham and Ellen HAMBLETON/HAMILTON (pick the name spelling as it changes back and forth). This Thomas was born in 1829 in Tennessee. Sometime in either the late 30s or 40s (I think) they came to Barry County, MO. The family appears in the 1840 (Sugar Creek Township) and 1850 (District 5) Barry County Census. Abraham and Ellen had the following children, James, Thomas, Carolina, Margaret, Nancy, Benjamin, John Berry, Sarah E., Cynthia Ann, and Enoch C. I have found your Thomas and another man, Benjamin in the Census as well. I also found a probate of Benjamin's estate in 1852/3 where both Abraham and Thomas appear prominently. Could be coincidence, but Abraham did name two children Benjamin and Thomas. The name BERRY is supposed to be Ellen's maiden name and supposedly she was from Carter Co., TN (northeast corner of the state). I think it was customary at the time to name your children after your fathers, brothers, uncles, etc., so I think, from very circumstantial evidence, that Abraham, Benjamin, and your Thomas (if he's the one I'm thinking of) are brothers. I'm told that the HAMBLETONS came from VA, but I've not been able to track them back further than MO. I don't really have good source material for the birth dates and places of most of the children (especially the girls). Does this sound too far-fetched?? Harry Harry S. I'm looking for information James Robert Hamilton (18-?) and any of his immediate family members. His family is listed below: wife: Johanne Hansen Hamilton 1862 - 1935. daughter: Rebecca Hamilton Ibsen 1889 - (?) son: Alexander Hamilton Aug, 14, 1891 - Nov 5, 1940. son: Raymond Hamilton 1893 - 1902, '03, or '04 James Robert's wife, daughter and oldest son are buried in Washington State. But family lore has James Robert and Raymond buried in the Will or Pike County area. I know son Alexander was born in Elwood without a doubt. (Well, at least that's what Alex had put on my father's birth certificate.) I know James Robert was French Canadian and his wife, Johanne, was from Denmark. Please contact me if any of those names ring a bell to you. I appreciate your time and energy.
