    1. [HAM] Major Thomas HAMILTON of Bledsoe County, TN
    2. Victoria Harrison
    3. I am trying to find the parents of Major Thomas HAMILTON (b. July 1883, d. 1946). He married Della HOGE and had 13 children. I have most of the children's names, but some I'm not sure about. From another mailing list, Major was found in the 1900 TN census living with a cousin named John. This is a big brick wall to me. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance! ===== -- Victoria Harrison v_harrison@yahoo.com researching: BLAYLOCK/BLALOCK, BURGESS, CARTER, CORNWELL, FRYE, GREGORY, HALL, HAMILTON, HARRISON, HAUSKINS, HOGE, HOSKINS, ROBERTS, RUSSELL, SHRUM, THOMPSON __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 2. Hi Lee: Sorry for the delay in responding to your answer on William G. Hamilton. We have been away since Aug. 10. I don't have any Hamiltons in AL. My brick wall is John Hamilton (ca 1770 - 1812). He and his sons died in Lincoln Co. TN. (One son was William Greer Hamilton, but he was born in 1802.) John Hamilton came from SC, possibly Chester Co. or Lancaster Co., but I haven't found his parents yet. So I can't help you with Hamiltons in 1870 in AL. Nancy Sicotte

They lived in Pittsburgh on Ellsworth Avenue. He was a chauffer for the DuPuy family. Interestingly, there was a Margaret Hamilton who was a "domestic" for the same family on the 1920 census. Her birth place is listed as Scotland. I am looking for both of them and/or her if they are the same person. If these names are pertinent to your website I would be very much interested in an invitation. Thank you, April Hickman

I believe I have found my Margaret Hamilton, b. in Brooklyn about 1855. I found her in the 1880 census in the 9th Ward in Brooklyn. Her parents were listed as Peter and Delia Hamilton, both born in Ireland. I am pretty sure this is here because I found her then future husband (they were married in 1881) in the 1885 business directory at the same address. Thanks again for responding. I appreciate it. Kathie

Edwin and Ida's son William was living in Hartford City, Blackford County, Indiana in 1905. He married Edna M. Lewis in 1905 in Grant County, Indiana and they had a son named Lester Edwin Hamilton in 1906. Lester was my husbands grandfather. We have been trying for almost a year to figure out who his father was. I just put it together today!!! Why did William came to Indiana??? Maybe his father was here? If you want more detailed info on what I've said or just want to compare notes, please email me at familytree@bpsinet.com. Hope that helps a bit. Kelly

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xFh.2ACEB/2836.1 Message Board Post: Hi Kathie, I have a Margaret L. Hamilton in my family research. She eas born around 1855 in Brooklyn and her parents were Hiram J. Hamilton (b. abt. 1828 in St. John's, NB Canada; d. 1904 Brooklyn, NY) and Margaret Hackett (b. 1831, St. Johns. NB, Canada; d. 1906, Brooklyn, NY). Hiram and Margaret were married in Boston in 1850 and Hiram was a shipjoiner/carpenter by trade. The younger Margaret shows up in the 1860 and 1870 censuses as living at home in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn (14th ward) but does not show up in the 1880 census (perhaps because she got married and moved out). My great grandfather, Hiram John Hamilton (b. 1852, d. 1937), was another child of Hiram the edler and Margaret. He would have been the younger Margaret's brother. I have no idea whether this is the same Margaret as yours but I thought I'd pass it on. Bob Sexton (rsexton@salans.com)

    3. Nan: I'm trying to put my Hamilton family together. Census record on my William G. Hamilton b1859 says his father was born in South Carolina. The 1870 census shows William G. age nine with 3 brothers Charles S. age 5, Saml P. age 7 and another brother age 12 but no father is listed, just his mother Mary E. Hamilton. I do know Charles was alive in 1943 and living in Atlanta. I've hit a brick wall, and hoping maybe your S.C. Hamiltons might be a tie in. Lee Hamilton Thames
