Don't know if you have this info or not, but could this be your family in 1880? The K could be a misreading of the census by the transcriber...you would have to check the microfilm. Looks like Stephen may have been born OH, but his parents born PA. Emily born IN, but her parents born OH. 1880 Census Place: Mitchellville, Polk, Iowa Source: FHL Film 1254360 National Archives Film T9-0360 Page 460D Relation Sex Marr Race Age Birthplace Stephen K. My maternal grandmother was Emily Valletta Hamilton (Daniels). Though family recollections are that she was born in Indiana in Feb. of 1853, her family could have come from VA. She travelled to Des Moines, IA where she met and married Stephen Henry Daniels, born in Monroe County, PA in 1854. My mother was born in DesMoines in 1883. -----Original Message----- From: Doggus Maximus [mailto:giantweenerdog@yahoo.com] Sent: Sunday, September 29, 2002 6:50 AM To: HAMILTON-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [HAM] Hamilton family from Ohio I have a George Hamilton, born in 1835, the parents were is Samuel Gill Hamilton and Anna Hawley Fox....of Loudoun County, VA and, Licking County, OH. Mary You just need to follow the general rules of genealogy research. Look for obituaries on each person, follow them through EACH year of the census during their life time, look for probate records, land records, etc. It is not all going to be on line. You will need to visit your local library and your local LDS library to acquire books, microfilm, etc. to help you. It sounds to me if you might just be beginning your research. If that is so, I would encourage you to look for a good how to book ... Val Greenwoods, A Researchers Guide to American Genealogy is excellent, and probably available at your library or on interlibrary loan. I would also encourage you to find your local genealogical society. The friends you make there will be able to guide you through research! The information you have indicates to me that you have a good possibility of solving your research problems! Good luck to you! g2

This is in to reply to the question should I pay the cost for this service. I have been outspoken about the services in a negative manner. While I have good reason, I will correct a statement that I made that the 1930 census isn't there and someone corrected me. It is there I just didn't scoll down far enough. The part showing doesn't identify it as the index which is for the states with indexes. It is also very fast and more accommadating than the other census they have available. Now the part I like is the articles and the library that you have access to. I am particular interested in how to articles or quick tips, for instance how to tract down women, that present a problem for researchers, since their names change. I have used their census more the any of the other available parts and those sections will only be helpful to the person who lived for instance in Oklahoma or California, which maybe extensive, while my area of research West Virginia or South Carolina maybe limited and will still take a trip to those state archives or court houses. Thanks for allowing me to correct myself. The ancestry.com has good points, each individual would have to determine that by the 14 day free trial, but by all means you have to cancel your subscription at the end of 14 days or they bill you for a year, without further notice. pat
