My Gr Grandfather moved from Coffee County Tennessee to Caldwell Parish Louisiana in 1855 when was 13 years. (he was born in 1842) On several census documents he indicated his father was from Kentucky. I have reason to believe his father's name was Abram or Abraham. Some of the old Census reports show an Abram (and Abraham in different years) At the right time and the right age to Be my Gr Gr grandfather. My Grandfather's name was William M. Hamilton. It's possible My Gr Gr Grandfather could have migrated to Tennessee after William was born. Not much to go on but maybe someone can help. I am not sure where you are located, but LD McPherson donated quite a few of these books to librarys across the US. The DAR library in DC has one, I know there is one out in Dallas, TX, one in Charleston, SC and we have one here in Tampa, FL You might be able to get one the libraries to do an inter-library loan for you. John Kincheloe, a professor at a liberal arts college in NC, re-printed the book some years back and may still have a few copies, here is his email address: kincheloe@carlyle.meredith.edu The Kincheloes and McPhersons are allied together by the marriage of Daniel McPherson and Susannah Kincheloe-several generations before the McPhersons allied themselves with the Hamiltons, through the marriage of Lucinda Oregon Hamilton and Charles Lewin McPherson. I am descended from all of these, and therefore a cousin to you via Major Andrew Hamiton. I would love to exchange information with you. Hope this helps, and in the mean time if you have anything specific, let me know and I can do a look up at our library for you.

    1. [HAM] John Hamilton - late 1700s - SC
    2. Melissa: It has been suggested to me to contact you, for possible Hamilton information. I am wondering if you have anything on a John Hamilton, born 1770/80, possibly in Chester Co. SC or nearby. John Hamilton married Martha Greer in the late 1790s in SC. Their children were named Susannah, William Greer, Ann, Nancy, David Montgomery, and Margaret Greer. The family moved to Lincoln Co. TN in 1810, and John was killed by a falling tree in 1812. (I have seen the reference to him in the book by McPherson.) I have not been able to find the parents of this John Hamilton. Any info appreciated. Thank you. Nancy Sicotte
