They were married in Amite on December 10, 1818, and so were my g-g-g-grandparents, John Bailey and Clarissa Lucinda Joiner. Also, the names John and Elizabeth McCullen appear on a marriage record of James Bailey and Isabella McCullen in 1815, in nearby St. Tammany, Louisiana. I am hoping to find out how the Hamiltons and McCullens knew the Baileys. Thanks, Alexia Bailey Scott

He later re-married. His new wife was the mother of at least two children prior to her marriage to JPH. Due to his age at the time of his second marriage it is doubtful that any children would have been forthcoming. He may have, however, adopted the children of his new bride. -trv.

I have been following this family in the census records, because Lillie's sister Samantha Boyd moved from Nebraska, to Clifton, Wyoming and then back to Johnstown, Nebraska along with William and Lillie Hamilton. I am related through Samantha's daughter Myrtle Edna Ayers. I do have some information. Samantha Boyd married Alonzo Ayers. There are several other researchers working on this family right now that might be able to help also. Let me know. Thank you, Denise Gorslin Chilston

Stephen C. was born in Darlington District SC in 1811. I have no idea who his parents were or who his brothers and sisters were. Do you have a Stephen C. in your line? I do know that Stephen C. married a woman named Jennett Brwon. Her father was Angus Brown who married a Mary MacFarland. They were from Cumberland Co. North Carolina not far from Darlington. I live in Nashville, TN and am 49 years old. My mother is the Hamilton line and she comes from Montgomery AL and Shorter AL (Macon Co.) before that. I guess SC before that. Good luck! Hi, You pbly got the Russell data from SSI: contact SSA for his personal info, likely including parents; see Ancestry.com for the form. There are a number of Clarences for that county in ME listed in FamilySearch.com under Clarence Hamilton/US/ME. Good luck. Jim
