    1. [HAM] Hamiltons of Coosa County, Alabama
    2. I have started a website at myfamily.com that specializes in the Hamiltons of Coosa County, Al. and surrounding county, Shelby county, Ala. I have included census from 1840-1870 and marriages dates for Hamilton marriages. This website was created to try to get Hamiltons in this area to identify their lines and participate with their gedcoms, photographs, discussion and theories. Perhaps your line kept better records than most of us and that will help us eliminate your line or join you in your quest for further identification of our families. I live about 1 1/2 hours from this area and I plan a trip to the court house. I have other lines in that area that I am researching too. The Bakers, Wilsons and Johnsons from Marble Valley, Coosa County and sometimes they located in Talladega. So It is possible I could look something up on my trip to the court house. On this website once you identify your line to me I will put your email address by that census record in hope that someone will contact you for further discussion. Email me direct at pkcb113@bellsouth.net and I will send you a password and userid to access the website. Thanks, Pat Killian

    1. [HAM] James M. HAMILTON of Lincoln co. TN b.c. 1778-80 ? SC
    2. Larry Coats
    3. I haven't posted this information in a while, so I thought I would give it at least one more whirl: Still searching for information on James M. Hamilton of Lincoln Co. TN. He was b.c. 1778-80(my est.)in SC and d. bef. 1830 in LCT or AL. His wife's name is unk to me, but she may have had some connection to one of the Bledsoe families of LCT. This couple had at least the following children: 1. Sarah("Sally")Hamilton b. abt 1803 SC; marr. Thomas Coats in LCT abt 1825. Children: Lewis, Louisa, Thomas J.(my Gg grandfather), John, Jesse, and James. 2. Jacob Hamilton, b.c. 1799 SC. Marr. Eliz. Campbell in AL about 1821-4. Children: Wm, Alexander, Eveline, Andrew, Mary Eliz., James, Nancy A., Christopher. 3. Daniel Christopher Hamilton, b.c. 1810 TN/SC. d. abt 1857 in Al. Marr. Nancy______. Children: Luvin/Loving(male), Wm, Robert, James, Sarah(Sally), John, Christopher. 4. James M. Hamilton Jr.(?). He was b.c. 1808. He married, but apparently relocated to Gibson Co. TN bef. 1850. These Hamiltons were initially settled on/around Kelly's Creek in LCT, however, Jacob and Daniel C. later moved their families into Madison Co. AL. Some of Daniel C.'s family later moved on to Navarro Co. TX. I also have a note that Jacob was in Hopkins Co. TX by 1870(however, I have not yet verified that the Hopkins Co. Jacob is identical with Jacob b. 1799). If anyone can provide any clues to the parentage of James M. Hamilton(or has the names of any of his siblings), please contact me. Regards to all, and special regards to Nancy Sicotte and Kenneth Smith....hope you are both well. Larry D. Hamilton Coats

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xFh.2ACEB/3327.1.2 Message Board Post: Saw your post to the message board and thought I would contact you. Your Christopher C. Hamilton(if he is the same one I'm thinking of)was the son of a Daniel Christopher Hamilton, b.c. 1810 Lincoln Co. TN. He was the younger brother of my Ggg grandmother, Sarah Hamilton Coats(she marr. Thomas Coats in LCT abt 1825. Daniel C. and Sarah had another brother, Jacob, b.c. 1799 prob. in SC. Most of these Hamiltons(except my Sarah)lived more or less on the TN/AL line. If you have any information relating to theories/ideas about who the parents of Sarah, Daniel C., and Jacob were, I would be very glad to an exchange of information. My best information is that their father was a James M. Hamilton, prob. b.c. 1778-80 in SC, who was in LCT by 1815-20 or so. If you have any oral traditions/tales/legends regarding your line of the family, please don't hesitate to relay those as well as public records on this family are scarce! Regards, Larry
