    3. I would like to know if you have any information on the Hamiltons who left Kentucky and moved to Tennessee. My Gr. Grandfather, William M. Hamilton, (b. 1842) who's family was from Kentucky, moved from Coffee County Tennessee to Louisiana in 1855 at the age of 13. I have nothing on his father except that he was from Kentucky. Please let me know if this fits with any of you information. 2. If this response is concerning the land issue it was in Alabama St Stephens land area. Sharon another another person on the list explained to me that there is a purchase or military grant somewhere on there. I am opened to any suggestions or comments that even requesting this land record would give information referencing genealogy matters or any experience you've with requesting land record information. 3. Sandy, John O.G. Hambleton/Hamilton born in VA (according to Blassengaim in 1880 census) about 1780 then to Monroe County, Alabama by 1816, where some of us stayed! Others left after the Civil War...Texas and Louisiana and on westward. John's wife was from SC. We don't know if they married in AL or SC, but Blassengaim was born in AL in 1817 in Monroe County. This was the Mississippi Territory at that time. AL didn't become a state until 1819. The 1816 Mississippi Territory census list John Hambleton. John's will was probated in 1844 in Monroe County. 3. Did you take a look at the online image of the land deed? Sometimes they put the place the person was residing on the top line along with the name. If your William Hamilton's land is in Illinois, you will find at the IL archives a very good land listing that tells what kind of land grant it was. Also, I think, if I am remembering correctly the blm site tells if it was a land purchase or military grant. sharon pkcb113@bellsouth.net wrote: >I know this list has alot of experienced researchers so I have a question. As we all know looking for military records for a William Hamilton is easier said than done. Any suggestion is appreciated, because I know this list has some well seasoned researchers and worn out shoes. If he was born about 1790 it is possible he served in the war of 1812. 3. In the past few weeks while working on my own line of Hamilton's of Westmoreland, PA I found a third Hamilton family that lived in Peach Bottom, York County, PA, which might either help or confuse researchers more ! For the mailing list "record" I have documented the family's as Alexander Hamilton b 1785 (?) in IRELAND ,Emigrated to Washington County, Westmoreland, PA in 1793, married Elizabeth Steele (The Steele Family of PA) John Hamilton b 1749 SCOTLAND, Emigrated with wife, Agnes Nancy Rayburn and two children , and Nancy gave birth while on the ship to Third child John Hamilton b 1770.This family first landed in Northumberland, PA in 1770 then settled in Washington County, Westmoreland, PA by 1784. This family ALSO married into the Steele Family of PA James Hamilton b Sep 29,1791 York County, PA, who married Martha Wallace August 23,1799 in York County,PA and had the following children all born in PA John Wallace, James Lot Dixon, Thomas Henderson, Hugh Cunningham, Louisa and Sarah Jane. The family moved to Cabarris County, NC by 1814. All of these family's are well documented, and this third line can be found in the Genealogy of the Descendents of Hugh Hamilton. Please excuse me for any "mistakes" I might have made, I did triple check all sources, and just wanted to share my find. Dave
