    3. hi Stephanie.. the only thing I know is what I've found on the web about Anthony L. Hamilton being born in SC.. I've only the clue that he followed (or his family followed) the Samuel Cunningham Woodside family up into KY.. Have you been in touch with a Shari Millson regarding FL Hamilton's? She contacted me as well.. Sandy in SC

    3. I don't show any Hamilton's going into GA.. maybe your connection came from the Hamilton's that were living in the 96 district and the Pickens Oconee counties of SC.. There are a few earlier families but so far I've not made found any links.. mine all ended up in KY and IL> Sandy in SC

    3. Sandy, I am searching for Hamilton ancestors also. My ggg-f was Larkin H. Hamilton b. 1828. He resided in the Crowders Creek area of Gaston County, very near the SC boundary. I have wondered if perhaps his parents came from SC because I have found nothing in NC records. He had two brothers, James Alexander who lived to be quite old and moved to Florida after the CW, and J. Theodore who was young and single when he died of illness during the CW, as did Larkin. Their mother's name was Mary. She lived with James Alexander, and died in Florida. If you recognize any of these names, please contact me at rmillson@carolina.rr.com . 3. Family lore says our first Hamilton in the US was Robert Hamilton b. about 1761 in Scotland (BUT his son says in the 1880 census that both his parents were born in PA, so we don't know if there is a generation missing?). Robert m. Lilia Maria Polk. He was in the US by 1813 in Beaver Co. PA, went to Meigs Co. Ohio in the 1850s. He was a school teacher, as was his son, Milton Josiah Hamilton, b. 1816 who m. Sophia Lyons. She was born in PA as were both her parents (1880 census). Milton's children were, in addition to Joseph Boyd Hamilton, Octavia, Mary, Milton, Curtis, Howard, Cora. Joseph Boyd Hamilton's children were Thena, Sarah, Estelle, Cora and Abner. We know there were Boyds in the family, but we're not sure how they are connected. My father in law remembers meeting a cousin who was a Boyd back in the 40s.
