Dave I have a James Hamilton born in Orange County Virginia, in 1757, and died in Feb 6,1844 in McMinn Co. Tenn. This is a far back as I have been able to go. He married Elizabeth Lynch (sister of the signer of the Declaration of Independence), one of their chilren, James Hamilton (born after 1780 and died aft 1852) became the governor of South Carolina in 1830 and was known as the Great Nullifer, later he became a strong support of Texas and was Texas Republic's minister to England and France. My Ellison HAMILTON and family and his son James Alexander HAMILTON were in 1840 York Dist. SC, 1850 Anderson County, SC and by 1860 were in Hall county, GA. James went back to Pickens Dist to marry his wife Melinda Ann MOORE in 1859, after they went into Hall county, GA. Does someone connect to these HAMILTONS.? thanks chris okchris@earthlink.net ..
