    3. I am curious about this posting. My gr gr grandmother was Manerva Elinor Hamilton Scott. She was born in 1823 in Giles Co., TN. Then the family migrated to Jackson Co., Alabama, on to Tishamingo Co. MS, then to Fannin Co. Texas. There are Savage's listed in the Fannin Co History book as well. I have been stuck on Manerva's line for 20+ years. I wonder if these Fannin Co families are connected to the ones you are talking about. Just a thought... His father was supposed to have been a French Huguenot who went to Ireland, settling near Londonderry. The bio states that it was composed of information from Parmenter's History of Pelham, Massachusetts, and Reed Johnes' History of Rutland, Massachusetts, with additions from various family records. This also states that his wife was Eleanor Hamilton (1713-1883), the daughter of his step-father. John Savage's step-father was supposed to have been Captain John Hamilton, a British Naval Officer and brother of my ancestor James Hamilton who came in 1716 to Massachusetts from Northern Ireland. James named his brother John as one of the exec. of his will. The children listed for John Savage and Eleanor Hamilton Savage are: Martha, b c1733 In Rutland, Elizabeth, John Jr., Lydia, and Edward. 3. A shot in the dark - as we have very little info. Trying to find connections to Eleanor HAMILTON. A family tree was passed down that has her as the daughter of Arthur HAMILTON, and married to John SAVAGE, Jr (b. 1707 Ireland?, d. 1792 ??). They had a son Daniel SAVAGE (b. ~1759). Daniel married Mary PARRISH (b 1759, Ireland?) - their son Israel was b. 1801 NY, d. 1846 ??. Anyone have any Eleanors or Arthurs from 1700s England, Ireland, northeast US?? thank you, Zoe

    3. I don't know if there is a connection; however,my grandfather was Carl Ellsworth Hamilton. He was born in Grand Tower, IL and died in Payne, OH. The name, Ellsworth, is so unusual that I assume it was a family name somewhere along the way. Carl's father, Lewis T. Hamilton, was born in IL or MO (shows up in two different census records) and his grandfather lived in DuQuoin, IL. Do you know of any family connection to IL? There's an Uncle Luke Hamilton who came to the States earlier, and was never heard from again. Legend has it that the elder Andrew Hamilton was born in a castle. 3. Apparently not a connection. As I'm sure you know, the mid 1800's was a busy time for Irish immigrants to America, and the Hamilton surname was quite popular! My Tyrone Hamilton's were in Mullawinney, Fintona and that area. ----- Original Message ----- From: DONALD A HAMILTON FOR D T HAMILTON<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 09, 2006 10:35 PM Subject: Re: [HAM] re: Thomas Hamilton b Ireland before 1765. We think that the first child was born in 1826-1827 by the name of Martha-Baptismal date is September 16 performed by Edward Atkinson. William's profession was a Miller. We've not been able to find a marriage certificate for William & Sarah. Our John (S.) Stuart was the 6th born, Baptismal Date is September 19, 1841.
