Somehow the given name Susannah figures into his family, as he and wife Martha Greer named their first child Susannah (born 1800). Thank you for any information on this Luke and Susannah Hamilton you can send. Nancy Sicotte

There are only two documented descendents of James Hamilton (b 1757 Orange County Va). His son Wyatt whom he lived with in McMinn county and is named in his will. His daughter Elizabeth that married James Dougherty in 1796 in Botetourt county Va. There are others that are believed to be children of James that lived in Russell and Lee counties but there has never been any hard documentation found to prove the link. I have found some evidence that James' parents were Luke and Sussannah Hamilton. James purchased land in Amherst county in 1782 from Luke. In 1787 James (son) and Sussannah (wife) are named in probate record on death of Luke Hamilton in Amherst county. Also in 1787 James sells his land in Amherst that he had bought in 1782. The 1787 date is believed to be about the time that Jame started his westward migration across Virginia that puts in in Russell county by 1810. Nancy I am searching for my Hamilton ancestors in NC also. If you are successful in sending out your page from the Hamilton bible, I would appreciate receiving a copy also. I am interested in any information on Benjamin Hamilton of Barnstable Co., MA. He purportedly married Martha Dammon. They also purportedly had a son named Johnson Hamilton, born 15 Nov 1773 in Falmouth, Barnstable Co., MA. I am interested in this family since Johnson Hamilton, if he is the same one, appears in the records of Wayne Co., KY as early as 1810. The tax list entries indicate he lived with or very near my Charles Hamilton, for whom the earliest record is his marriage to Hannah Henry on 23 Dec 1777 in Lincoln Co., NC. I am trying to locate the parents of my Charles. Perhaps Johnson was a younger brother or a nephew. What I know about Charles can be seen at my website: http://azstrong.tripod.com/jd_letha/legacy/882.htm. Robert Strong

James enlisted in the British Army rather than starve. Our guess is because of the potato famine. IN 1849 he deserted and came with his family to the US (NY). He died and left his widow and son Patrick J. They lived there til 1855, then came to Wisconsin, town of Patch Grove. Mary married Micael Casy and they had two children. Patrick married Mary Jane Stockwell Gilbert and they had 8 children. Any help would be appreciated. I've found either a Mary and James on ships coming to the US from Ireland or Patrick and James, but not all three. Thanks
Myrta, thanks for putting the will online. I already had it but a lot of others probably didn't. thanks again, Jackie
