Catherine Hamilton (b. 1826 Collins Bay, Ontario) is the daughter of Harlow Hamilton (b. 1810 USA). Harlow Hamilton appears to be the son of Clark Hamilton (b. abt. 1780 of Scottish descent but born US). Clark Hamilton died between 1861 and 1869 in Napanee, Ontario. Any items found in the bible have all proved to be family linked and/or important. I don't know as of yet what connection Catherine Hamilton might have with Milton Edgar Hamilton and/or his father Milton Clark Hamilton (and I am currently in the process of obtaining a complete copy of the obituary) but was wondering if you have come across any of these names?

He married Elizabeth Wise in 1821 in Belmont Co., OH. In the 1840's they moved with their children and children's families to Gallia Co., OH where they both died in the 1850's. The only clue we have to Thomas' origin is in the 1850 US Census where he is listed as being born about 1799 in Maryland. Elizabeth's family (Wise) was originally from York Co., PA which borders on Maryland. Does anybody have any information about Thomas and how his parents might have been?
If any of the Thomas Hamiltons are descendants of James Hamilton and or of James's son , Thomas Napier Hamilton, I would like to hear from them. > [Original Message] > From: <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Date: 4/17/2006 1:17:47 PM > Subject: [HAM] Re: Looking for a cousin > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xFh.2ACEB/4493.2 > > Message Board Post: > > Tom Hamilton > 338 Nelson Ferry Rd > Atlanta, GA 30303 > Phone: (404) 687-0670 > > Hamilton, Thomas Jr > 3160 Weymouth Dr, > Marietta, GA ZipCode > (770) 977-8825 > > Hamilton, Thomas W > 240 Janis Dr, > Marietta, GA ZipCode > (770) 428-4170 > > Hamilton, Thomas W > 179 Red Fox Run, > Warner Robins, GA ZipCode > (478) 953-4059 > > > ==== HAMILTON Mailing List ==== > Suggestions and complaints to list maintainer, not to the list! > [email protected]

Hello cousins! Does anyone here link with these Hamiltons? I am especially looking for information on his parents and info on his death/burial. I apologize if this is a repeat the fist posting did not show up after a week. Thomas James Hamilton 1820- 1903 Thomas James Hamilton was born May 1820 in Augusta, Georgia to Scot-Presbyterian parents. For reasons yet unknown (climate, fear of fevers etc.), his parents decided to return to either Northern Ireland or England shortly after Thomas' birth. I don't know how soon but there were no Hamilton's listed in the 1820 census for Richmond Co. Georgia taken just 3 or so months later in the beginning of August. Thomas married Rebecca McIntyre of Ireland and returned to the U.S. and settled near Philadelphia, PA where he was working as a carpenter. His eldest son, Asa Augustus was born in Philly on August 28, 1850. In 1852 the family moved to Bellefontaine, Logan Co., Ohio where Thomas continued working as a carpenter. Asa was joined by Sarah (1853), Ludella (May 1855), Mary (1857), Thomas H. (Mar. 1859) and William (Feb. 1861). One of the two biographies of Asa states that Thomas joined the Union army at the outbreak of the Civil War and served through out. So far I have only found evidence that he joined the Ohio National Guard after his next child Clayson (Feb. 1864) was born. He served in Company B of the 132nd Ohio Infantry from May 1864 until September 1864. In September 1866 twins Emma and Emmett joined the family. Shortly after the family moved to Indianapolis, IN where Thomas worked as an engine builder. Sometime between 1866 and 1871 Rebecca dies. She is not listed with the family in either of the two enumerations of the 1870 census. The 1871 date comes from a 1901 biography of Asa and may not be reliable. At this point the family scatters. Asa's 1883 biography states that "at the death of the mother the family circle was broken." In the 1880 census Thomas is nowhere to be found. Asa's 1883 biography places him in Kansas City, Mo but I have never found any trace of him there. Asa and Clayson are living in Marion, Grant Co. IN. Ludella was married in 1879 in Huntington Co., IN. Sara may also be married but I have not found her yet. Mary heads a separate household with the rest of the children in Wayne Township, Huntington Co., IN. In 1900 Thomas is living with his son Thomas H. in Huntington County. He had applied for and was granted a civil war pension. The record is faded so I cannot make out the date. He died July 26,1930 in Huntington Co., IN. I do not have burials for either Thomas J. or Rebecca. If this line touches your drop me a line I'd love to here from you and share what info I have.. regards, John Stanley

George was born @ January of 1835, possibly in the Lawrence County Ohio area & probably died around 1905, or so. He lived in Lawrence County, Ohio (Ironton) & was married to Barbara Shepard on July 17, 1869 in Lawrence County. I have Barbara's full name as "Barbara Jane Shepard", & she was born @ 1850 in West Virginia (Virginia). I don't know when she died, but she appears in the 1880 Census; however, George is listed as a widower in the 1900 Census. They had 5 children; Lavinia (@1870-?), Eliza (2/23/1876-?), Henry (March 1877-?), John (April 1883-?) & William Homer (my grandfather; 5/7/1889-9/11/1959). My grandfather never spoke of his parents, or brothers & sisters to my aunts, uncles, & Dad; other than to say that his father & a brother died in some kind of epidemic when he was young. My only surviving aunt was quite surprised to find that her father had 2 brothers & 2 sisters! I would be grateful if anybody has any information on George, Barbara, or my grandfather's siblings; including any information about where they might be buried. Thanks.
