My family research leads me back to a Sallie Hamilton who according to court records was married to Andrew Hamilton in the Spartanburgh District of South Carolina in October of 1813. She claims Andrew Hamilton was killed in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, War of 1812. They had one son named Andrew Hamilton, Jr. who was born around 1814 in South Carolina. She was trying to prove she was his wife in the court of White County, TN in 1825. I've been unable to find where in South Carolina they really came from. There is also no record of this Andrew Hamilton fighting or being killed in the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, I've hit a brick wall. Andrew Jr. resided in White and Putnam Counties of Tennessee his entire lifetime having 8 children. I'm a descendant of his daughter Amanda, she was my gggrandmother. Any information you might have on your line that could connect them with mine would be greatly appr! eciated. Lynne

Wm.'s mother is listed as being one FLORA Hamilton of Pa. His 'father'...as of yet, although identified as JOHN cannot be proven. This side of the Hamilton family 'moved' from PA. to OH sometime after 1835??? When Flora 'died', Wm. moved to East Saginaw, MI. Do these 'facts' correspond with any 'other' Hamilton's out there?? If so, i'd be EVER so grateful.

I am John Robertson, and am tracing the ancestry of my "Joseph Rainey Robertson, born in Scotland" who married a Susannah Johnson, 26 Nov, 1795 in Madison Co. KY Knowing how names changed spelling, and your line and the Hamilton name, I very curious. The reason I am curious is that when I had my Family Tree 37 marker DNA test, I find that I match Hamiltons 3:1 over Robertsons! Joseph's middle name of Rainey, your Hamiltons, makes it too much of a coincidence to skip asking you about the Raney name. Does any of the above ring a bell? I haven't been able to find out where Joseph acquired his middle name. Thanks, John (Direct Email is best.) >>> [email protected] <<<

    3. Only found one family tree, with no person listed as the submitter. Might have been you? Much more info about Caroline, very little about John Hamilton. It had Caroline born in London, 1850, to John Kemp and Caroline Buller. Children Carrie, James and Catherine Hamilton, no dates. A John Hamilton registered to vote in Storey County (Virginia City is in that county) on 20 Oct 1866. Not much else to go on. Strange, no mention of John Hamilton, with the 1846 DOB in any census. A John Hamilton from Ireland shows up, but he was older than your John. I have a John Hamilton born about 1946 in my family! I'm sure that won't help you at all...
