    1. GOTWALS
    2. Greetings Robb - Picked up your query about the spouses and wanted to offer a quick response as I've got to remove white stuff from the driveway (i.e. SNOW for our southern cousins!!), then I'm headed out of town for several days to a conference. I have found some information on the GOTWALS family in Montgomery County records as well as in the Bergey & Johnson book on Hallmans, and share those for what they're worth.... (I'm an experienced amateur and if another Hallman has better documentation, I'll willing to update what I've found!!) Anyway, those sources list Benjamin Hallman married to Fronica Gotwals, daughter of Adam Gotwals who came to America in 1739, aged 20 on the ship 'Samuel'. Adam filed for citizenship August 27th, 1739. His will is filed May 17, 1792 and proved on June 5th, 1795. (Notes made by my mother indicate a death date for Adam of 1794 - she was in the Montgomery County Historical Society in 1994 when she found those, but didn't make a notation of what her source was there!! Yes - I've already 'yelled' at her for that....) In Adam's will (which I have read myself and do have a copy of a I prefer to see original sources when possible) is in Norristown, #2097 from Will Book 1, page 4390), his wife is named as Fronica, and the biographical notes on him (Bergey and Johnson) contain a note that suggest the wife's surname was Schneider. There are 13 children listed for Benjamin Hallman and Fronica Gotwals - and if you don't have those, let me know - I'll see if I can help more when I get back in town later this week. All for now... I hear snow plows in the street and that means an even bigger mess at the end of our driveway - I just love winter in upstate New York! NUTS!! The book I cited is "Genealopgical Landmarks and Milestones of the Lower Perkiomen Country by Ralph Johnson and David Bergey". It was indexed and reprinted in 1992, and is available for Adams Apple Press, P.O. Box E, Bedminster, PA, 18910. I think it's in the $25 -30 range. Try contacting them at (215) 755-2149 or Faxing (215) 795-2694. Perhaps they have e-mail by now - my contact was several years ago --- running late now - catch you later. Good luck!!
