    3. Hi, Hallmans, Diane Kurtz, ListOwner for the NYFingerLakes mail list, posted this message below, today, on her list. If you are traveling through Virginia, it would be worth a stop at this Museum. Faith Hutchings Your List Hostess faith@verdenet.com In Staunton,VA we stopped at the Frontier Cultural Museum. I had never heard of it and happened to see it in a guidebook. If you haven't been there and are in the area, it is well worth a stop. Farmhouses and outbuildings were dismantled in Europe and brought to the museum and painstakingly reassembled. There is a farm from Palatinate Germany; Ulster, Ireland; and England from the early 1700s and a VA farm circa 1850. The purpose of the museum is to show the life that our immigrant ancestors lived in Europe and how that translated to the new generations in America. I've been to many "living museums" and love them all, but this one deeply affected me. My ancestors were Palatines from Germany and came to this country in 1738 - so it was very easy to "see" them living on the German farm. The 1850 VA farmhouse had many similarities to old houses and farms in the Finger Lakes area where they relocated circa 1823. The interpretors were well-skilled and very informative.
