Hello all, Am most interested in connecting the below Joseph HALLMAN listed in the 1870 Penna Census, Montgomery Co.,Perkiomen Twp., pg 47. Joseph HALLMAN 38, Farmer; Catherine 35, Milton 13, Garret 11, Joseph 9, Hetty Ann 7, Maggie 6, Kate 2, and William 5 months; with an Eliza CUSTER 65, and a Barbara GOTWALS 24, in the household. I am speculating that Eliza CUSTER is Elizabeth, widow of Leonard M CUSTER (March 15, 1795 - March 13, 1861). Leonard's brother, Joseph M CUSTER (July 13, 1810 - February 17, 1900) married an Elizabeth HALLMAN (I don't have her connected either) on November 26, 1833. I believe Barbara GOTWALS is the daughter of Jacob S GOTWALS (January 16, 1814 - January 10, 1848) and Magdalena B CASSEL (who is living two farms over with her daughter Lizzie and family). Barbara later married the widower, Henry K GODSHALL. Any help in connecting either Joseph or Elizabeth HALLMAN is appreciated. Any illumination on the nature of their lives and the inter-connection between families would be a blessing.
