    3. Hi, all: For new subscribers and old subscribers, I am giving the address of the archives again. http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl When the page comes up, type in our list surname. Click on Remit Query. Next page that comes up, type in the given (first) name of the person you are researching. (Don't type in the surname alone.) Click on 1998 (not many on 1999 yet) Click remit. The messages will be in order of rating, ie. "100" means "You've found the best message for the name you've requested." The ratings get lower down the list. To read the "Full message" click on "Full." The Rootsweb addresses given below can be a help to Newbies on our list. HELPDESK TIPS. Your new computer is connected, you've ventured onto the Internet, you've discovered RootsWeb, but where should you begin? RootsWeb has a Web page especially for "newbies" at <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~help/help/start.html>, and the HelpDesk is always available at <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~help/index.htm>. Below is a new Rootsweb research address for England & Wales. Our ancestor didn't come from that area, but this address is given only for your information on other researches. I haven't checked this address yet, so can't say what is on it. FreeBMD HOSTED BY ROOTSWEB FreeBMD stands for "Free Births, Marriages, and Deaths." The FreeBMD project's objective is to provide free Internet access to the Civil Registration index information for England and Wales. For more information see <http://FreeBMD.rootsweb.com/> Good luck in your research this year! Faith Hutchings Your Listowner faith@verdenet.com
