What I have comes from the Hallman Family Association in Skippack, Pennsylvania. The dob for Jacob is listed as 5 Sep 1799 and his wife is listed as Mary Shoemaker. I know of no other wife. Another gem that I copied from Lancaster Co. List. I'm sure some of you already know all this, but be tolerant for those Newbies who will be glad for this information! Faith H. The Wonders of "Click, Drag, Highlight, Copy & Paste." Here is the MOST USEFUL TIP I know to share with an online genealogy researcher: You can easily transfer information between your e-mail program, your Web browser and your word processing program. This approach is of great value to the family history researcher who is continually gathering information. - Here is How it Works: - Make sure that you know how to use your mouse to "Click, Drag, and Highlight" a word, sentence, paragraph of text or a whole page of text. This is the same method you probably already use with your word processing program. This selects or "highlights" the text. You can CUT or COPY the text. If there is a "pull down menu" on your word processor, Web browser or e-mail program - this option is usually under the "Edit" section of that menu. You MUST learn how to COPY and PASTE text: If you are using MS-Windows and do NOT have a pull down menu to go to. You can COPY by highlighting the text and hitting the "Control-C" keys. Then you can PASTE the text by hitting the "Control-V" keys. This is critical to know because you can use the "Click, Drag, Highlight, Copy & Paste" trick to help you with your genealogy research while you are on the Internet. - Here are more examples of why this is practical to know: - -You see a Web page mentioned list letter that you want to go see. Highlight and copy that address. If you are using MS-Windows it is now on an unseen "clipboard." Minimize your e-mail program and simply PASTE that address in the appropriate area of your Web browser and never type a single letter of gibberish! -You are on the WWW and see a few paragraphs of information that you want to save. Forget about saving the whole Web page. Highlight and copy the text - minimize your Web browser and pull up your e-mail program. Choose to send a new message and paste the text within the body of the e-mail message. Address it to yourself and save it. This is a great data collecting method. -You have some information that you have been gathering and pasting into an e-mail message. Now you want to get it to your word processor. Highlight and copy the text - minimize your e-mail program and start your word processing program and simply paste the text. You may have to "clean it up a bit," then save it. -You have a lengthy e-mail message to send and you want to make sure that it is spelled correctly. Write your letter in your word processor, use the spell check and get it how you want. Highlight and copy the text. Then minimize your word processing program and open up your e-mail program. Paste the letter in the body of the e-mail message. Once you get the hang of this you will be a "dangerous on-line researcher." Take the time to try it. Learn how to do this. You will save time and have less frustration. Get a friend to help if you have trouble. Nadine Wilson Hensley list owner

In the widow's renunciation (filed 29 Feb 1856) she does not request a son, son-in-law, or in fact anyone in particular to take administration. The settlement indicates that a George S. Hallman, was the administrator. William Foxe and Michael Hallman waere sworn 18th Feb to do the appaisal. Interestingly, the registrar was an Isaac Schneider. The account of the estate dated July 17th shows disbursements including the following Hallmans: Michael, George S, Isaac, and Susanna. There is no mention of property, but that may not be a conclusive statement as there were other papers I did not order. Edie

Does anyone have a proven death date for Jacob Hallman son of Benjamin and Fronical Gotwals (who reportedly married Mary Shoemaker)? or a proven death date for Jacob Hallman married to a Mariah? I have copies of estate settlement from Archives in Montgomery County PA, which I expected to be for the Jacob who married Shoemaker. But in the widow's renunciation, the widow is Mariah. The date of death in the documents is a few month earlier than I have recorded for Jacob son of Benjamin, but my date is not documented. Only Mariah I found in the List Archives is in "South Carolina Hallmans". Anyone have any ideas? Edie
Edie reminded me of something I intended to do. The new archiver archives address doesn't work well for surname purposes, so I've been meaning to give you all the old address we used to access our archives until recently. (Sometimes old things are better.) Try the address below, Edie, and anyone else who want to search our archives. If you still have a problem let me know. On another List, an offer was made to look up any surnames beginning with *H* in the records of the Lutheran Church in New Hanover, Montgomery Co., PA. I sent a message asking for any *Hallman* surnames. This was her reply below. I'm forwarding it to our list on the chance that one of you might have this *Jeremiah* in your family line. Faith I was only able to find one mention. HALLMAN, Jeremiah died July 8, 1898 at age 58 years, 8 months, 13 days. Hope this fits into your family tree.
To the Southern Hallmans, It seems as though Angela's Hallmans must be from the South Carolina branch, too. Do any of you have her ancestors' on your family line? (see below) Faith Hello, I don't have any info, except that the late Edward McARthur Hallman lived here in Vale N.C. and he is from this area and so was his father. I don't know if this will help, As you can see I don't have any more info, but would love to be able to find out more on my husband side of his family. Thanks, Angela
For those who have Ontario ancestors/relatives, Ancestry's Free Data Base of the Day is Kitchener, Ont. Woodland Cemetery Records. I found the Hallman name 15 times. To Hallmans, Gloria asked me to help her with the Benjamin Hallman and Fronica Gotwals family. I checked mine & found I had received most of what info I had. from several on our list. I show 14 children for B & F Hallman. I'm sending Gloria's message on to you. Can one, or more, of you help her out? Thanks, Faith I hope you can help me. I'm trying to piece together the family of Bejamin Hallman and Anna (Fronica)Gotwals. Benjamin is Anthony Hallman's grandson. I have 10 names for Bej. and Anna's children but have no dates to put them in order or to make sure I have not missed anyone. I also need dates for both Benj and Anna as I have nothing yet. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you. Gloria Allen jeglo@greatlakes.net

Angela, Do you know where your husband's ancestors, Ellis Hallman or Edward Hallman, were born, lived, etc.? We have several unrelated Hallmans (as far as we know now) on our list. The Hallmans who descend from John Wendell Hallman come from the South Carolina Hallmans. Those of us who are descendants of Anthony Hallman, who settled in Pennsylvania in the early 1700s, are scattered across the United States, and Canada. Then, we have some Hallmanns who arrived in the Chicago area in the 1800s, plus at least one Hallmann who is descended from ancestors in Sweden. So, it would help us if we knew where your husband's ancestors originally lived, if you can tell us? Thanks, Faith Hutchings
Hello, I am researching the Hallman family for my husband. His grand-father was the late Edward McArther Hallman. The only info I have is Edward's father's name was Ellis Hallman who was married to a Carnily Sain. I would appreciate any information on this line. Thank-you, Angela Lovelace Hallman ace Hallman
